How did Ten Hag break the strict rules set by Sir Alex and Solskjaer?

Former Manchester United goalkeeper, Ben Foster, spoke about the strict rules that Sir Alex Ferguson applied to his players when playing away matches.

Legendary Manchester United coach Sir Alex Ferguson was famous for his strict rules both on and off the field. One such rule, revealed by former Man United goalkeeper Ben Foster on the Cycling GK podcast, is that players must wear suits when traveling to away matches. The rule applies even when traveling by plane, players are only allowed to change into more comfortable clothes after the plane takes off.

However, they are still required to wear their formal uniform again before landing. These high standards are said to have contributed to Ferguson’s successful career, helping him win 13 Premier League titles, five FA Cups and two Champions Leagues with the Red Devils.

Sir Alex always appears in elegant suits.

However, current manager Erik ten Hag has a more relaxed approach, allowing players to wear the club’s tracksuit when playing away matches. This is also a change from Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s time as coach, when the former striker, a former student of Sir Alex, restored the dress code during his time in the hot seat.

Foster shared some memories of his time under Sir Alex Ferguson, telling the Mirror: “When I was at Man United, with Sir Alex Ferguson, that was the bare minimum. I remember, if we played away and fly, then we’ll get on the plane and you’ll change almost immediately. You arrive, put on a suit and tie. It’s done.”

“You even button the top button, tie the tie, it’s perfect. You look perfect. You also polish your shoes. As soon as you get on the plane, you take off your suit, put it on hook and hang beautifully.”

“Everybody gets dressed properly. Then you’ll be able to wear shorts and t-shirts and things like that. It could be a three-hour flight, it could be a six-hour flight. During half an hour before landing, it’s ‘Okay guys, everyone go back to your seats and get dressed again’.”

Ten Hag had discipline problems at MU

Why Ten Hag decided to relax this rule is unexplained. But if a suit and tie can improve Man United’s performance on the field, perhaps he should consider bringing it back, because the Red Devils under the Dutch coach often have discipline problems.

From Cristiano Ronaldo publicly defaming the club in the media, to the event Jadon Sancho also posted his conflict with the coach online, while key striker Marcus Rashford went from being late to practice to partying all night and then calling in sick to recover. take a break from training . Although Ten Hag always punishes violators harshly, so far he has not been able to create discipline for the Red Devils.
