Nate spots Lily at Society and asks if she and Devon have given anymore thought to him coming back to work at Chancellor-Winters. Lily says they haven’t talked about it. Devon wants to talk to Victor first. Nate smirks, “You still don’t trust me.” Lily says they want to ensure they have the whole story. Nate complains they’re not giving him a fair shake, “I’m a new man. Why is that so hard to believe?” Lily sighs that the news from Newman is a bit troubling. Nate insists he was only out for Victor and the company. Does she think Devon will take his word over Victor’s? They go over the Newman pretending to be losing his mind. Nate says he was trying to look out for him and the company. Lily adds, “And to get Victoria back in the CEO chair.” She asks him to be honest about his true intent and strongest allegiance.

Nate isn’t sure how to answer that. In Lily’s mind, he just did. Nate supposes he’s wasting his time with her. Lily says they’re trying to do the right thing. As he wanders toward the door, Audra enters. Nate says he has to get out of there and asks Audra to join him. She agrees.

At Daniel’s place, Lucy tells her dad she loves her awesome new room. Heather says it’s the coolest bedroom she has ever seen. Lucy wants to tell Sally she rocks. Daniel will text her Sally’s info. Lucy asks, “So… when can I move in?” Lucy angles to move in this afternoon. Daniel says it’s fine by him as long as it’s OK with her mother. Heather teases about Lucy abandoning her and then says she’ll help her pack. Lucy goes off to her room and Heather tells Daniel she hasn’t seen her so happy in a long time. Moving back was the right decision. Daniel asks, “What about you? Are you happy that you made the move?”

At the ranch, Victor urges Nikki to sit down and rest. What Jordan and Claire did to her is unconscionable. He hopes they lock them up. Nikki tells her husband he was the reason she stayed strong. She heard him telling her to stay strong and fight. Victor would never let anyone hurt her. He kisses her face.

At the jail, Claire is stunned when she’s led into a holding room and Victoria and Cole are sitting there. Victoria says, “Hello, Claire.” They want more information and ask how old Claire was when Jordan told her they were her parents. They want to know if it’s even remotely true. Claire wonders what difference it would make. Would they use their power and influence to get her out of this situation? She’s not even sure it’s something she wants.

At the ranch, Nikki and Victor both get a text and Nikki says, “This is very disturbing.” They’ve learned that Victoria and Cole have gone to visit Claire. Victor wonders if they think she’s actually their daughter. It’s a disturbing possibility. He worries about Nikki’s sobriety, “Are you sure this will not drive you back to the bottle?” They embrace and Victor tells his wife he’s there for her. Nikki assures him she doesn’t want to drink, but she’s going to a meeting this afternoon. Victor’s glad. Nikki says the two women wanted to destroy her but she won’t give them the satisfaction. As Victor holds her, Nikki flashes back to drinking the vodka and eyeballs the bar.

At the jail, Victoria says they need to find out if Claire’s story is true. If it is, she’s just as much a victim as they are, but they need something concrete to go on. They ask if Jordan ever showed her documentation or ran a DNA test. Claire can’t accept that she was gaslighted since she was born. Cole says it’s so ingrained in her she had no reason to question it. Victoria prompts, “Come on, Claire. How about giving us some answers.”

Victoria knows that the events of the past few days have been traumatic for her; she’s been feeling the same things. Cole recaps that she’s facing charges. Victoria and Cole go over Jordan programming her to go along with her vengeance on Victor and Nikki for what she believes they did to her sister, Eve. Victoria says Claire’s way out is the truth. “Please help us understand what happened.” Claire says, “I was five when Aunt Jordan first told me the truth about my parents…”

Victor welcomes Devon to the ranch and says he wants to know why he fired Nate. He wants to come back to Chancellor-Winters and they want to be completely informed before making any decisions. Victor will tell him what he knows. He’s glad Devon came to him and is sorry to say his cousin can’t be trusted. Devon says he’s claiming to be misunderstood. Victor chuckles. “Don’t you trust that guy. I’m warning you. Family only goes so far. Only covers so much.”

Upstairs, Nikki flashes to drinking in the lake house. She answers an unknown caller and jazz music plays. Nikki frowns as the call disconnects.

At the Club bar, Nate complains to Audra that Devon is talking to Victor, “It’s obvious he’s not ready to welcome me back with open arms.” Audra advises him to stop being the martyr. He wanted Victoria to have power again, “Didn’t you?” Nate insists he was concerned about Victor’s health and the company. Audra doesn’t doubt he was worried about Victor, but he also took advantage of the situation. She urges him to own it. He’ll garner more respect that way.

At Daniel’s place, Heather wonders why he’s concerned about her. Daniel will always want her to be happy. Heather confirms that she is, “I have so many fond memories here and recently I’ve had positive meetings with Chancellor-Winters’ legal team.” It feels like a good fit, and everything seems to be falling into place. She tells him how much his help and support has been invaluable. Daniel teases, “Did you think it was going to be weird between us.” Heather doesn’t think she could have done this without him. They hug as Lily walks in. She loudly closes the door and Daniel rushes over to kiss her cheek. Heather notices that Lily has her own key. Lily announces she also made Daniel a key for her apartment. Lucy appears and drags her mom off to discuss the closet in her room. Lily tells Daniel she didn’t think his daughter was moving in until the weekend, “Surprises all around.”

At the jail, Claire tells Victoria and Cole, “At first she would just mention every now and then how she couldn’t understand how a parent could walk away from a sweet girl like me.” Then she’d tell her how lucky she was that she took her in. She built on the resentment and pain until it was her only reality — she’d been abandoned and only Aunt Jordan cared for her. She asked herself every day what could make her parents hate her so much that they’d never want to see her again. “I was homeschooled until I was a teenager,” Claire explains. “My first real experience with school was a very strict all-girls prep school.” She warned she would be ridiculed if she ever told the truth about her family, “She convinced me to adopt an alternative story. She told me to tell everyone that my parents had been killed in a car accident.” It was an easy background to present to the world, “But I was consumed by the bitterness.” Victoria asks, “You never questioned any of it?” Claire shakes her head. She never saw any proof. Maybe she thought it would break her. Cole asks, “What about now? Are you saying you question the validity of that story?”

Claire tells Cole and Victoria that Jordan’s story was all she’s ever known, “How could someone make up such a story?” Why wait a lifetime and poison a child’s mind? Victoria thinks Claire needs to find out who she is and what happened. “I know you’re scared, but don’t you think it’s way past time you found out the truth? Would you at least agree to a DNA test. That way we would have concrete proof one way or the other.” Claire agrees. She wants to know if they’re her parents, “Please help me.”

Nikki joins Victor and Devon in the living room at the ranch. Victor explains that Devon came to ask about Nate. Nikki says he’s a snake. Devon will keep that in mind. “Lily and I have a lot to consider.” He says his goodbyes and leaves. Victor asks Nikki if everything is alright. She tried to take a nap, but she couldn’t forget the memories.

At Daniel’s place, he tells Lily that Lucy fell in love with her room and asked to move in right away. She makes his house feel like a home. Lily loves that. Daniel thinks everything is falling into place. He thanks her for putting a good word in for Heather at her company. Lily says he’s happy to help, but Daniel sense something is wrong. Lily says she just had a tense conversation with Nate. She knows Mamie wants them to work together, but he was a pompous ass at Society. She explains that Devon’s trying to figure it out too. Daniel’s sure they’ll make the right decision. Lily asks if he wants to grab some coffee. He agrees. They’re kissing when Heather reappears. She tells Daniel that Lucy has a question for him. Daniel goes to join his daughter. Heather hopes Lily’s not put out by Lucy moving in. She assures her she’ll try to stay out of everyone’s way and not step on anyone’s toes.

At the Club bar, Audra isn’t condemning Nate’s actions — she probably would have played it the same way herself. Nate insists he wasn’t trying to oust Victor and thought he needed help. Audra says what’s done is done, “What matters now is what we do moving forward.” His chances of returning to Chancellor-Winters are slim to none. Perhaps it’s time he reconsidered joining forces with her. Audra points out that even if his cousins hire him back, the first mistake he makes, he’ll be gone. Nate argues that family counts for a lot. Audra wants to know what it’s going to take to convince him to join her somewhere that he’ll be admired and respected. Nate finds it tempting, “But really Audra, everything you say is tempting.” He’ll see where Devona nd Lily stand. If they don’t value family as much as he does, then he’s in.

At the jail, Cole warns the charges against Claire are very serious. She thinks the Newmans are powerful enough to fix anything. Victoria says it doesn’t quite work like that, but she’ll promise they’ll do what they can. Claire asks, “No matter how the DNA test comes out?” Victoria asks, “When is the arraignment?” Claire says a date hasn’t been set as she doesn’t have a lawyer. She was counting on her aunt to show up. Victoria points out she’s in more legal trouble than Claire is and she wouldn’t expect her to surface anytime soon. Cole will look into finding a lawyer, and then maybe she can make bail. “But, there’s something you need to do for us.” Victoria says it’s a deal-breaker, “We need that DNA test.” Claire nods.

At the ranch, Victor hugs Nikki before heading to the kitchen to get her some tea. Once he’s gone, Nikki slips over to the bar and pours a vodka. She holds the glass and contemplates it before downing the whole thing.
