‘A fat slob who can’t fight’ – Anthony Joshua takes aim at Tyson Fury after his performance against Francis Ngannou

Anthony Joshua says Tyson Fury looked like ‘a fat slob who can’t fight’ against Francis Ngannou, insisting his rival should have lost that fight against the former UFC heavyweight champion.

‘The Gypsy King’ was widely expected to breeze past Ngannou in their non-title fight in Saudi Arabia in October, Ngannou’s first ever professional boxing bout.

But the Cameroonian shocked the world with a superb performance that night against the WBC heavyweight champion, dropping Fury in the third round.

Over the years, Fury has constantly sought to undermine Joshua’s boxing ability by labelling him ‘a body builder’ – with the former Olympian now warning his rival to ‘stop running his mouth’ after a lucky escape last time out.

‘I think Ngannou won,’ Joshua told the TNT Sports Boxing YouTube channel.

‘But the judges are there for a reason, they score it how they score it and they’re professionals at what they do and I’m just an observer. Fury won, but from a fan’s point of view, I think Ngannou won.

‘Bodybuilders up, dossers down. He just looked like a fat slob who can’t fight. He said bodybuilders can’t fight but he got smacked up by one.

‘I’ve always wanted to get in the ring with him. He does a lot of talking, calling e a bodybuilder and stuff but I had one of my African pals who’s a bodybuilder step in and smack him up for me. It just shows, it’s tough at the top.

‘Getting there is one thing but staying there is another and he’s starting to see. That wasn’t even a world title fight; he’s had four of five world title fights. I had 12; it’s tough, it’s not easy.

‘Good luck to him anyway but he’s got to stop running his mouth because it comes back to bite you.’

Joshua takes on Otto Wallin in Saudi on 23 December on the same night Deontay Wilder is in action against Joseph Parker.

Fury meanwhile will finally meet Oleksandr Usyk in their long-awaited undisputed title clash on 17 February.
