Neymar cheers on Al-Hilal and poses for a selfie while recovering from anterior cruciate injury despite making only five appearances for the Saudi club

Neymar posed for a selfie as he cheered on Al-Hilal while recovering from surgery on an anterior cruciate injury that is preventing him from playing from the Saudi side.

The Brazilian joined the Saudi side in the summer after calling time on European football and deciding to leave Paris Saint-Germain in a £78m summer deal.

However, his time in the oil-rich nation has so far been thwarted by injury with Neymar so far making only five appearances for the Saudi side.

Neymar suffered a serious injury while on international duty with Brazil in October and subsequently had to undergo surgery on the knee problem.

He is expected to miss the remainder of the season, but is still showing his public support for the Saudi Pro League leaders from the sanctuary of his own home.

Al-Hilal starred in their top of the table clash with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al-Nassr, winning 3-0 courtesy of goals from Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Aleksandar Mitrovic.

The Saud top-flight leaders cemented a seven-point lead over Al-Nassr as a result, putting them in a strong position for the league title.

Neymar has so far managed just five appearances for Al-Hilal since joining the club

Neymar is likely to miss the remainder of the season while he undergoes a lengthy rehabilitation period following the knee injury that occurred in Brazil’s recent defeat against Uruguay.

At the time of his latest problem, Neymar posted on his Instagram: ‘It’s a very sad time, the worst.

‘I know I’m strong but this time I’m going to need my family and friends even more.

‘It’s not easy to go through injury and surgery. Imagine going through it all again after four months of recovery.’
