KC Chiefs’ Chris Jones, Travis Kelce Make 2023-24 Players’ All-Pro First Team

Two of the Chiefs’ best players clearly have the respect of their NFL counterparts, as Chris Jones and Travis Kelce are first-team Players’ All-Pros.

Official results for 2023-24 AP NFL All-Pro honors will be released in due time but for now, players are getting honored by their peers.

The Kansas City Chiefs have two players, tight end Travis Kelce and defensive tackle Chris Jones, earning another accolade on Wednesday. In the second annual Players’ All-Pro list, Kelce was the top tight end and Jones was one of two interior defensive linemen voted in by his fellow players.

Per the NFL Players Association, the Players’ All-Pro team is a “league-wide vote” in which 30 players are honored for their performance during the regular season. The top five results for each position group will eventually be released to provide “a more extensive look at how players voted in each category.” This marks the second year in a row that Kelce and Jones were members of this club. Last year’s voting also included quarterback Patrick Mahomes and punter Tommy Townsend.

Here’s more from the NFLPA on voter eligibility and how the structure is broken down:

Only active NFL players were eligible to vote, and each player could only vote once.

Players could not vote for themselves or for their teammates.

If a player missed five or more games as of Week 15 of the season, they were ineligible for a spot on the team.

Players voted for the position group they play in and line up against on the field. For example, centers could vote for: the best center, the best nose tackle, the best interior defensive lineman and the best off-ball linebacker in the league.

For the special teams (or “core teamers”) category, various player leaders from each locker room nominated their two top players for the ballot.

In his 11th season, Kelce remained one of the best tight ends in the league. Hauling in 93 passes for 984 yards and five touchdowns in 15 games, he came up just short of extending his 1,000-yard season streak. Had he suited up for Week 18, that record likely would’ve been brought out another year. Jones recorded his second-straight season with double-digit sacks, logging 10.5 in 16 games. Despite a contract holdout, Jones returned to the team ahead of Week 2 and hit the ground running. Neither player was able to replicate his 2022 form, but both had very respectable campaigns. Other NFL players clearly agree.
