A few days ago, BlackPink was honored to be a distinguished guest at a national banquet between Korea and England, taking place at Buckingham Palace organized by King Charles.

Also receiving the MBE Medal from the British Royal Family, compared to other members, Rosé enjoys full title privileges because of her dual nationality. It is worth mentioning that this reason once made BlackPink members find it difficult to realize their dreams.

Rosé was opposed by her family when she wanted to become a singer

In an interview with The Sydney Morning Herald , Rosé confided: “In Australia, I don’t think I have many opportunities to become a singer – especially to become a K-pop star… I live very Far from Korea, I never really thought about it.”

Born on February 11, 1997 in New Zealand and moved to Australia with her family when she was 7 years old, Rosé holds dual Korean and New Zealand citizenship.

As a child, the female idol actively sang in the choir at church, at school she joined the cheerleading team and was loved by everyone because of her beautiful appearance and approachable personality.

Before debuting with BlackPink , Rosé was not supported by her family. Because pursuing her dream of singing meant that Rosé had to leave her family in Australia, her parents strongly objected.

In a video posted on Rosé’s YouTube channel in May 2021, the female idol’s father talked about his daughter’s determination:

“I didn’t even just play around, I brought 3 friends and danced in front of my parents” – he said.

After that time, Rosé’s parents fell in love and even suggested that their daughter audition in Sydney for YG Entertainment.

As a result, Rosé finished first among 700 contestants, officially signed a contract with YG Entertainment and trained for 4 years before debuting as a member of BlackPink in August 2016.

BlackPink’s golden voice

Rosé may not be the member with the largest number of fans in the group, but the female idol has a unique voice, outstanding with high ranges and is an indispensable part of BlackPink’s songs.

Rolling Stone Korea once commented: “Rosé is one of the few K-pop artists with an instantly recognizable voice. Her voice and tone are based on a nasal sound, with a suitable modern singing style. with a variety of music genres, in addition to possessing fluent English, has made her the most outstanding singer in K-pop.”

BlackPink’s main vocalist released the single album R in 2021. The album sold 448,089 copies in the first week, the highest number for a Korean female solo artist.

The title song On the ground became the highest-charting song by a Korean female solo artist on the US Billboard Hot 100 , ARIA Singles Chart and UK Singles Chart .

On the ground helped Rosé set two Guinness World Records: First artist to reach top 1 on the Billboard global chart as both a solo singer and a member of a group; Most viewed video by a K-pop solo artist within 24 hours on YouTube.

The second song on the album R is Gone , released in April 2021. The song peaked at number 6 in Korea, number one in Malaysia and number 15 on the Digital Songs Sales chart .

Not only is she successful in her music career, Rosé is also one of the prominent K-pop artists in the fashion industry. Currently, she is a global ambassador for a series of “big companies” such as Tiffany & Co, Yves Saint Laurent…

That’s why the story of Rosé’s contract extension with BlackPink members is of interest to fans. According to some rumors, Rosé is one of two members of BlackPink who accepted to re-sign.

In May 2022, Rosé said she was thinking about extending the contract. The female idol confided: “BlackPink is forever family. I grew up with them. They are a part of me. I don’t think it will end. I would be stupid to worry or think about that.

But you know, when something is so good and you love it so much, you always think about the other side because you don’t want to lose it.”
