At Society, Chance looks over the menu, and assures Summer that he doesn’t need a game-plan to cheer him up. She suggests he’s in denial and delaying processing things. He admits that he was caught off-guard by Sharon ending their relationship but feels it’s probably for the best. Summer is certain that something so abrupt must hurt. Chance says they are friends — there was no bitterness or cheating. It’s just awkward and they’ll get past that. Summer is trying to do that with Kyle, especially for Harrison’s sake. Chance feels that’s an entirely different situation since they have a long history and pain to get past. “It just takes time,” he advises. You have to figure out what the future looks like. Summer reminds him they are there to cheer him up, not her, and suggests they get the drinks going.

After the wine arrives, Summer pries for more details on the split with Sharon. She asks if Chance can bare his soul, but he’d rather talk about anything else. He thanks her for all her wardrobe tips. Summer jokes that he’ll have to accept her judgment in all things going forward. “Clearly, I have no choice,” he says.

Summer and Chance step outside, shiver in the cold, and share some more light chit-chat about his wardrobe. Summer tells him this was nice and he agrees; they should do it again soon.

Nikki meets with Lauren on the patio of Crimson Lights, relieved that she agreed to see her. Before she can begin sputtering into excuses, Lauren stops her. “The only thing I need to know is if you’ve been drinking again,” she says. Sitting down, Nikki gives Lauren her word that she has not had a drop since last night. It was a bad moment and she gave into temptation — that’s over. Her friend is glad to hear that but what about ten minutes from now? Nikki shows her that her purse is empty and adds she went to a meeting. Lauren believes her. She’s just concerned and frightened. Nikki is determined to beat this and will do her damnedest to make sure nothing like this happens again. Lauren knows that Nikki has been going through some impossible times. She also knows that she has incredible strength and pride, but that’s not what she saw last night.

Nikki explains that’s why she want to see her last night and asked her to cover with Victor. Lauren is sure that he realized that something terrible had happened. She recalls Fen going through his addiction — it was a living nightmare to feel utterly helpless and no one should feel like that. That’s the last thing Nikki wants Victor to feel. Choking up, Lauren assures her that after what she went through with her son, she has nothing but compassion for her and will give her any support she can. She makes her promise to call so she doesn’t suffer alone and asks her not to let her family suffer any more than they have. Nikki hopes she never has to take her up on her offer of help, however much she appreciates it. The offer stands. “With all that support, how can I fail?” Nikki asks.

Lauren and Nikki talk about Seth being there for her. The Newman says she was lucky to find her sponsor. They saw each other at meetings for years and she was relieved to call on him. Lauren points out they have a mutual understanding, like Neil and Katherine. Nikki says it’s almost impossible to understand addiction if you haven’t gone through it personally. Lauren tells her that Finn and his sponsor are very close and even spent Christmas together. Nikki’s not sure it will be like that with Seth but she is grateful that he was there for her.

Just then, Seth walks in. Nikki stands up and thanks him for all he did last night. He was glad to help and is happy that she’s looking so well today. He’s there to keep her stable. She didn’t see him at the meeting today. Her sponsor yawns and claims he’s a bit under the weather and on the way to a late meeting. He tells Nikki if she needs to reach out, he’s only a call away. Once Seth walks off, Nikki asks Lauren if he seemed okay.

In her suite, Phyllis paces, frustrated that Danny isn’t immediately responding to her texts. She assumes he’s with Christine and is sure the lawyer must be taking shots at her right now to make herself feel better. “That is not going to work. I refuse to let the Bug come between me and Danny ever, ever again!” she vows. As she begins rifling through her drawers to find the right lingerie, she whispers that he’s giving her no choice. Not that she minds a bit. Once she settles on the right underwear, she puts a trench coat on over top.

At Daniel’s place, he and his father discuss Lucy’s “pop-rock” playlist. Danny jokingly admits he’s a little shocked that he’s not on it. His son is sure she’s a fan. Danny wasn’t just humoring her by asking for it. He enjoyed a lot of it and says you need to stay on the cutting edge to be innovative. As Danny’s phone starts blowing up with texts, his son assumes that it must be messages from Christine. She’s the only one who can make him smile like he is. Danny laughs awkwardly. Lucy interrupts to declare that she’s hungry. Her dad offers to call for take-out but she’s having a craving for grilled cheese. Leaping up, her granddad offers to take care of that. She turns that down and says she wants it the way her mom makes it. Sending Heather a text, she declares that she’s already on her way over. Lucy bustles off to make sure everything she needs is in the kitchen.

Danny and Daniel must that whatever that was just happened very fast. Danny asks his son if he’s happy that Heather is on her way over and note she seems to be spending as much time there as at her own place. How does that make him feel? Crossing his arms, Daniel tells him that if he’s trying to suggest something is going on between them, he couldn’t be more wrong. However, he does get the feeling their daughter has a bit of an agenda. Danny is sure that Lucy is just adjusting and feels torn by her parents splitting but being in the same town. Now they are spending all this family time together, it must be reassuring. “It’s funny, having you and mom back in town isn’t reassuring at all. It’s kind of terrifying,” Daniel teases.

Heather shows up and Phyllis keeps sending Danny messages. He responds, agreeing to meet at the Jazz Lounge. Announcing he will be back, he jogs off. Daniel apologizes to Heather about their daughter dragging her over there. She assures him that their daughter is not taking advantage of her. These days aren’t going to last forever and it’s her pleasure to give her what she wants. He squints. Lucy walks in and says they don’t have any cheese. She suggests peanut butter and bananas. They go into the kitchen.

After they have hot chocolate and marshmallows, Lucy goes off to bed. When Heather offers to wash the dishes, Daniel insists on handling them. He owes her for dropping everything at their daughter’s request. They agree they’re both putty in her hands. Daniel gets the feeling she likes them all hanging out again like in old times. Heather gets the feeling she’s not the only one. She imagines he’s already noticed it, but she’s falling back in love with him.

Danny joins Phyllis at the Jazz Lounge. She has cocktails waiting and asks him to play that song that was inspired by her. He hasn’t even finished the lyrics, but she wants to hear the song. It makes her feel beautiful and inspires her to feel like everything will work out the way it should. “Please?” she asks. He climbs up to the stage and starts to play. As he plays, she records it on her phone.

In the Athletic Club, Christine sits at the bar shaking her head as she looks at the video that Phyllis posted.

Back in the jazz lounge, once he’s completed his song, Danny re-joins Phyllis at the table and asks if Tucker has been making trouble for her. All he knows about Tucker is his notorious reputation. Tilting her head, she says she doesn’t see a future with McCall. He doesn’t sweep her off her feet like Danny does. Claiming it’s hot, she starts yanking at the lapels of her coat and pushing her cleavage out. She lets the coat fall so her bra is fully exposed and starts adjusting herself. Danny starts screwing up his face and staring as she goes on about the passion they had. He remembers that but says it wasn’t all good. “It was all good,” she says, biting her finger and saying they could have that fire again.

Danny’s phone dings. Phyllis asks him not to check it but he does and sees it’s the video of him playing. She posted it, writing, “TFW when your ex plays you a love song.” When he demands to know what this is, she acts perplexed and claims she just wanted the world to hear his beautiful song. He says she’s infuriating and he knows exactly why she posted this. She wants the whole world to think there is something romantic between them when that’s not the case. “You haven’t changed at all, have you?” he asks. Phyllis insists she has changed and isn’t playing games, that’s his precious Christine. She brings up Cricket gloating about taking him off on a romantic trip. It hurts her when she comes after her like that, especially when she was only trying to apologize — Christine just wanted her to feel like dirt because she felt threatened.

Danny is finding all of this hard to take. “Please tell me you didn’t mention that you kissed me?” he begs. As Phyllis remembers it, he was kissing her too. She claims that she was showing restraint by getting back at her. That’s too much for Danny to believe. His ex asks why he didn’t tell Christine about it. He didn’t see what good that would do. “I think you liked it,” she whispers. He accuses her of trying to twist things. She’s sure he doesn’t want to admit it to himself but he’s happier and more comfortable around her. Leaping up, Danny declares her clueless and orders a scotch. Sauntering over, Phyllis tells him how hard he has to work to be comfortable with “the Bug” and act like he’s still attracted to her. Getting in her face, Danny tells her to back off. She pushes back, urging him to trust his instincts. “I know what I know and I know this,” Phyllis says, kissing him. He kisses her back as Christine walks in and sees them together.
