Drake losted £1 million on a failed Anthony Joshua vs Francis Ngannou fight bet

Drake has placed a huge bet on the winner of Francis Ngannou‘s fight with Anthony Joshua that could see him win over £1million.

The rap superstar continues his run of placing huge wagers on sporting events where he stakes six-figures sums, but his record on combat sports doesn’t always pay off.

British heavyweight Joshua is seeking to move one-step closer to become a three-time world champion but must a find way past the heavy-hitting ex-UFC champion Ngannou first.

The bout between two of boxing’s most powerful punchers could swing either way during the showdown in Saudi Arabia, but Joshua is slightly tipped as favourite due to his long-track history in the sport.

Drake would cash in over £1million if Ngannou pulls off the shock result against Joshua

That suggestion has been overwhelmingly dismissed by Drake who is backing Ngannou to emerge victorious by lumping a £478,000 bet on him.

The duo headline the aptly named Knockout Chaos event in Riyadh and Drake will be rewarded with an outrageous £1.48m payday if Ngannou beats Joshua by any method of victory.

Posting his wager to his 146m Instagram followers, the music icon simply stated: ‘Betting on a scary man.’

However, Drake has been burned with huge losses when betting on sporting showdowns before with fans labelling his stakes as a ‘curse’.

The heavy-hitting Ngannou has backed himself to knockout Joshua in the heavyweight clash

The 37-year-old lost over half-a-million pounds when he incorrectly backed Sean Strickland to defend his UFC middleweight championship against Dricus Du Plessis in January.

He also lost £430,000 when Israel Adesanya suffered a shock defeat against Strickland in the octagon and previously bet £700,000 on Logan Paul to beat Dillon Danis in the boxing ring.

Fans joked online that Drake has continued his ‘curse’ by backing Ngannou to beat Joshua on Saturday evening, with one comment on X stating: ‘If you had a bet on Francis tonight Drake just cursed him with this.

Another added: ‘Drake didn’t even need to bet. Joshua was gonna embarass Ngannou anyway. Boxing school incoming’.
