Another Chelsea star has now suffered an injury setback after Romeo Lavia.

Chelsea were dealt a major blow last week when it was confirmed that Romeo Lavia will miss the rest of the season because of injury.

Romeo Lavia has struggled to stay fit since joining Chelsea from Southampton last summer, managing to make just one appearance this term.

It has been the story of the Blues’ season, with other players also out injured at the moment.

Mauricio Pochettino went into Chelsea’s 2-2 draw with Burnley over the weekend without the likes of Reece James, Levi Colwill, Ben Chilwell and Christopher Nkunku, for example.

It does not look like things are going to get any better for Pochettino either, as another member of his squad seems to have had his own injury setback.

Who else has suffered an injury setback at Chelsea?

It appears that Pochettino is now going to be without one of the above names for a while.

On his Substack Si Phillips Talks Chelsea, journalist Simon Phillips has shared a very worrying update about Nkunku.

Discussing the forward’s current situation, he said: “The other setback, that actually hasn’t really been reported yet in the media, is Christopher Nkunku.

“As I put on the blog last week, a source has told me that at the time of writing that (Wednesday or Thursday last week I believe), Nkunku had also suffered a setback and as a result had not yet returned to the grass.”

Like Lavia, Nkunku has barely played this season, making just seven appearances in the Premier League.

After all of his injury problems, Pochettino does not think Nkunku is the same footballer Chelsea fans saw during pre-season.

Christopher Nkunku injury

Nkunku’s latest injury has really been a bit of a mystery. Pochettino has even admitted that he does not know how and when the Frenchman picked it up.

It is disappointing, as a fully fit Nkunku would have had Chelsea much higher in the table.

Even in the few games that the 26-year-old has managed to play, he has shown Chelsea supporters what he can do.

Nkunku has a couple of goals to his name, including one against Liverpool at Anfield.

The Blues need him to stay fit next term. It could make a big difference for them as they aim to have a much better campaign than the one that they are currently having.
