Henry Cavill Proves He’s Even More Buff Than Superman

“I don’t always workout, but when I do, I workout with Superman,” the actor joked

Henry Cavill is so buff that he puts superheroes to shame.

The 35-year-old actor, who plays Superman, shared an Instagram of himself and a statue of the Man of Steel on Sunday, captioning it, “I don’t always workout, but when I do, I workout with Superman.”

He added the hashtags, #Superman and #GymStuff. In the silly snapshot, Cavill is wearing a tank top that shows off his bulging biceps and a baseball cap that his curly locks are peeking out from underneath.

Rumors started circulating in September last year that Cavill, who first assumed the role of the D.C. comics legend in 2013, would no longer be playing him. Some four months later, Warner Bros. has yet to confirm or deny it.

At the time, a spokesperson for the studio told PEOPLE in a statement: “While no decisions have been made regarding any upcoming Superman films, we’ve always had great respect for and a great relationship with Henry Cavill, and that remains unchanged.”

Back in September, Cavill’s manager Dany Garcia seemed to deny the rumors, tweeting, “Be peaceful, the cape is still in his closet. @wbpictures has been and continues to be our partners as they evolve the DC Universe. Anticipate a WB statement later today.”

A few months later, in December, Cavill’s pal Jason Momoa, who plays DC’s Aquaman, also refuted the reports, telling Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of his own superhero debut, “I just talked to Henry, he’s absolutely not [done playing Superman] … He loves the character. He’s not. One hundred percent.”

The Game of Thrones alum then insisted, “It’s absolutely [not going to happen].”

Cavill first played Superman in 2013’s Man of Steel and returned for Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice in 2016 and the following year’s Justice League, both of which also starred Ben Affleck as Batman and Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman

According to The Hollywood Reporter, talks broke down between Cavill and the studio for a cameo appearance in the upcoming film Shazam!

Entertainment Weekly reported Cavill isn’t scheduled for any new Superman films with an upcoming Supergirl origin movie the only title currently being worked on.
