Some of the popularity of The Witcher can be attributed to its established lead actor, Henry Cavill.
Netflix continues to add to its collection of Netflix Originals, including one of its newest productions, The Witcher. The series is based on an adaptation of short stories by author Andrzej Sapkowski. It’s centered around a monster hunter, Geralt, who tries to navigate a corrupt world where he is often shunned. After being released on the streaming service last week, it’s already gained quite a fan base, especially considering the short time it’s been available.
Some of the popularity of The Witcher can be attributed to its established lead actor, Henry Cavill. Cavill is no stranger to playing do-good characters (and acquiring a few admirers in the process). The actor is best known for playing the heartthrob hero, Superman, starring in Man of Steel (2013), Superman v Batman: Dawn of Justice (2016), and Justice League (2017). Even though he’s gotten quite famous through his roles, there’s still a few things not many people know about the larger than life actor.
Below are 20 little known facts about The Witcher’s Henry Cavill.
20 He Was Actually Turned Down For The First Superman Role He Auditioned For
After Henry Cavill starred as Superman in Man of Steel, it’s hard to imagine any other actor playing the role. However, he actually lost the original role he auditioned for to actor Brandon Routh. Routh was cast in Superman: Flyby. While Brandon Routh wanted to continue as Superman, he then ended up losing out to Henry for Man of Steel.

Superman: Dawn of Justice…Ben Affleck.
8 Stephenie Meyer Wanted Him To Play Edward Cullen
When Stephenie Meyer was in the process of bringing her Twilight saga to theatres, she had one actor in mind to play Edward…Henry Cavill.
