Brie Larson and Gal Gadot have a Marvel-DC crossover moment in throwback selfies from the Oscars

While they play characters who inhabit competing superhero universes, Brie Larson and Gal Gadot promoted love not war in throwback selfies.

Both Larson, 30, and Gadot, 34, shared a pair of selfies on Instagram Thursday, with identical captions – ‘Make love, not war.’

Larson is best known for playing the Marvel Studios superhero Captain Marvel, while Gadot is best known for playing Wonder Woman, though they shared the same powerful message with a pair of fun selfies.

The first photo showed both women in their Oscar attire, Larson wearing a pink caped Celine dress while Gadot opted for a black Givenchy own, with Larson playfully strangling Gadot, who in turn is grabbing one of Larson’s earrings.

While that photo represents the ‘war’ of their statement, the second photo shows the love, with smiling for the camera.

Unfortunately for superhero fans, this photo will be the closest thing we’ll get to seeing both of their characters on screen together, since Larson’s Captain Marvel is in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and Gadot’s Wonder Woman is in the DC Extended Universe.

At the Oscars earlier this month, both Gadot and Larson took the stage alongside Sigourney Weaver to introduce the first ever female orchestra composer at the Oscars, Eimear Noone.

Noone lead the orchestra in a medley of the Best Original Score nominees, after Gadot, Larson and Weaver all joked about starting a fight club.

Larson also added how honored she was to stand alongside her ‘fellow superhero Gal’ and Weaver, the woman who ‘paved the way’ for them, referring to her iconic performance in the 1979 sci-fi/horror classic Alien as Ellen Ripley.

Both Larson and Gadot proved that female-lead superheroes could bring in the big bucks at the box office.

Gadot’s 2017 blockbuster Wonder Woman earned $412.5 million domestic and $821.8 million worldwide from a $149 million budget.

Larson’s 2019 smash hit Captain Marvel earned $426.8 million domestic and $1.128 billion worldwide, from a reported $152 million budget.

Both Larson and Gadot were featured separately in the Netflix comedy Between Two Ferns: The Movie, and Larson starred in the drama Just Mercy.

Larson is attached to return in a sequel to Captain Marvel, while Gadot is currently filming Red Notice with Dwayne Johnson and Ryan Reynolds.
