LeBron’s 37-Point Show Ignites Epic Win; Bronny James Joins to Witness the Triumph over the Houston Rockets

LeBron James and son Bronny shared a wholesome handshake as the Los Angeles Lakers got the better of an epic encounter with the Houston Rockets on Sunday.

Bronny, 19, sat courtside to witness LeBron, 38, drop a season-high 37 points in a barnburner against the Rockets. The Lakers forward came up big in front of his son four months after Bronny’s cardiac arrest during practice with the USC Trojans.

LeBron parlayed his 37 points with six rebounds, eight assists and three steals in 40 minutes of play. He also made the important go-ahead free throw with 1.9 seconds left as the Lakers edged Houston 105-104.

Before the Lakers game, Bronny warmed up with the Trojans for the first time since his cardiac arrest in July. While yet to make his collegiate debut, fans were excited to see his progress after a successful surgery to repair a congenital heart defect.

USC went on to beat Brown Bears 81-70 while Bronny was across town watching LeBron disprove Father Time once more.

‘Sometimes you need to remind folks,’ James said after Sunday’s game.

James foreshadowed Sunday’s performance with a 35-point showing against Portland on Friday. The win over Houston was James’ 109th 30-point game in purple and gold since moving to LA in 2018.

Not only did he surpass Kobe Bryant on that list, but LeBron also moved ahead of the Lakers legend for most NBA games with at least 35 points. With 237, James only trails Wilt Chamberlain’s 381 and Michael Jordan’s 333.

He achieved the feat with much efficiency, shooting 14-19 (73.7 per cent) from the field against Houston. James is also shooting 58.6 per cent so far this season while continuously showcasing his strength and athleticism.

The four-time NBA champion previously expressed wanting to stay in the NBA until both Bronny and second-born Bryce are in the league.

‘Just trying to push the limit,’ James said. ‘See how far I can take this thing. I don’t know. I mean, it’s me vs. Father Time.’

The Lakers are 8-6 this season and will look to build a three-game win streak when they face the Jazz on Tuesday.
