Chelsea star Enzo Fernandez has revealed Kylian Mbappe’s out-of-control attitude during the 2022 FIFA World Cup final between Argentina and France.
Enzo Fernandez was a member of Argentina’s squad that defeated France 4-2 on penalties after a 3-3 draw in 120 minutes at Qatar 2022. Many people consider this to be the best World Cup final in history with many memorable and unbelievable moments.
Kylian Mbappe was the one who shouldered France’s attack by scoring a hat-trick. The Paris Saint-Germain superstar became the first player since Geoff Hurst in 1966 to score three goals in a World Cup final.
However, it was a tense match at the Lusail Stadium in Qatar, with both nations looking to achieve glory. Heat rose when Mbappe clashed with Enzo Fernandez, and the Chelsea midfielder was just one of many Argentine stars to suffer the French striker’s wrath.
Enzo Fernandez recently reflected on the final and delved into his interactions with Mbappe. Sharing with AlbicelesteTalk, the midfielder born in 2001 said:
“I remember what he told me, things about the match. There were times when we were celebrating during the match and he made signs to us as if he was going to beat us. Mbappe told us I think they will score and win the final.”

Enzo Fernandez also explained how Cristian Romero intervened when the Tottenham Hotspur defender celebrated provocatively in front of Mbappe:
“He argued with me, I don’t know why. But there I had a warrior who protected me. When Messi scored the third goal, Cuti Romero celebrated right in front of Mbappe. At that time I thought he he’s crazy.”

Argentina won the World Cup for the third time in its history after one of the most remarkable finals. Enzo Fernandez made 7 appearances throughout the tournament, scoring one goal and contributing one assist.
The 22-year-old’s outstanding performance in Qatar led Chelsea to break the then Premier League transfer record to sign him. They paid Benfica a reported €121 million for Enzo’s services in January.
