Paris Saint-Germain legend Ronaldinho has said that he wants Kylian Mbappé (24) to win the Ballon d’Or whilst he is still with Les Parisiens.
Unlike Ronaldinho, who won the trophy back in 2005, Mbappé is yet to win the prestigious prize. Despite beating his own goalscoring record last year, the France captain was pipped to the prize by Lionel Messi, with Erling Haaland finishing second. Mbappé completed the podium in third.
Too late for Mbappé to win the Ballon d’Or at PSG?
Ronaldinho wants Mbappé, who he describes as “a good friend and a great player” to win the France Football prize whilst he is at PSG. “A great player like him can have the chance to win the Ballon d’Or for any team, but as I love PSG, I want him to do it with PSG,” the iconic former Barcelona winger told AFP.
However, as that time already passed? Mbappé’s contract with Les Parisiens runs out at the end of the season, whilst the next Ballon d’Or trophy will not be awarded until the Autumn. Whilst the former AS Monaco winger could remain at PSG beyond the summer, there are not yet reports of discussions over a contract renewal and links to a summer departure are incessant. Ronaldinho may, therefore, not get his wish.
