Conor McGregor drops sparring partner as he ramps up training ahead of UFC comeback fight in 2024

Conor McGregor has given fans a glimpse into his comeback camp, and he’s looking very sharp.

‘Notorious’ hasn’t fought since breaking his leg during a trilogy bout with Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 in July 2021 – but he has been fit to fight all year.

McGregor is expected to face lightweight contender Michael Chandler in his return bout next year, but UFC CEO Dana White is yet to announce a date, weight, or venue for the clash.

Despite that, the former dual-weight champion recently took his training to the next level by teaming up with former PFL featherweight champion Brendan Loughnane.

On Tuesday, McGregor shared three videos of him in the gym with the British fan favourite and a fourth clip that showed him sparring an unknown opponent.

He captioned the X – formerly known as Twitter – post: “Fight art, enjoy.”

The 47-second video shows McGregor’s speed, power, and precision.

Towards the end of the footage, ‘Mystic Mac’ uncorks a beautiful one-two combination to score a knockdown and prompt a worried reaction from an onlooker who tries to intervene.

McGregor’s workout partner quickly bounced back to his feet.

The two men touched gloves and circled each other before the video cuts out just as they are about to start trading big shots once again.

McGregor’s handy work soon made its way onto YouTube where fans flooded the comment section with compliments about MMA’s greatest legend.

One fan wrote: “It’s inspiring to see Conor moving like this after such a gruesome break. True warrior, wish him the best.”

Another said: “The drive this man has is motivational. He’s won at life and keeps looking for more.”

A third person added: “It wasn’t even a hard shot, just that beautiful timing he is blessed with.”

Someone else commented: “That’s it bro keep working!!”

This sparring footage only adds to fan excitement ahead of the most eagerly anticipated comeback fight in the UFC’s 30-year history.

It remains to be seen if McGregor will be able to return to his best form after suffering what many feared was a career-ending injury two years ago.
