Gal Gadot looks elegant in 1920s Givenchy gown

Her smash hit superhero film Wonder Woman is set during World War I.

But when she swung by the Oscars at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre on Sunday, Gal Gadot evoked the decade following the Great War.

The 32-year-old brought back the 1920s in a slinky sparkling Givenchy gown that dripped with fringe, playing up the flapper chic with slicked-down hair styled by Mark Townsend for Dove.

Fringe benefits; When she swung by the Oscars at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre on Sunday, Gal Gadot evoked the 1920s in a Givenchy gown

Gal’s sleeveless outfit was a glittering silver until about mid-thigh, and from there down to the hem was a curtain of darker metallic fringe.

She posed up a storm with her besuited businessman husband Yaron Varsano, with whom she shares daughters Maya, six, and Alma, 11 and a half months.

Gal played the title character in this past year’s Wonder Woman, which was was left without a single Oscar nomination this year.

She took the stage alongside Armie Hammer of Call Me By Your Name to present the Academy Award For Best Makeup And Hairstyling.

This was the team behind the massive feat of rendering Gary Oldman unrecognizable and transforming him into Winston Churchill.

And Gal certainly ensured that she looked the part in terms of her own makeup and hair, modeling a glamorous beauty look and perfectly-coiffed locks courtesy of celebrity stylist Mark Townsend, who sought inspiration from the 1920s when pulling together the look.

‘Gal’s look was inspired by her Givenchy silver gown and Tiffany diamond and aquamarine necklace – we decided to put the hair up so that we could really highlight the jewel!’ he explained.

‘The final look has an Art Deco feel – just a hint of 1920’s – without being costumey.’

Eager to ensure that not a single hair would fall out of place on the night, Mark used the Dove Compressed Micro Mist Extra Hold Hairspray, describing the product as the ‘perfect’ option for the actress because it ‘holds like crazy’ but ‘won’t flake’ if he needs to brush it out and change up her look.

Sunday night’s Academy Awards are being hosted by Jimmy Kimmel, who also served as compere for the ceremony last year.

The nominees for Best Picture include Martin McDonagh’s Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and Guillermo Del Toro’s The Shape Of Water.
