“Best Anime In The World”: Fans Go To War In Deciding Who Is A Better Protagonist

Monkey D. Luffy vs. Naruto Uzumaki becomes a hot topic for debate once again.

Anime vs. Anime is an old concept in the anime world. It does not matter whether one is old, one is new, one is long, or one is short. As long as it is an anime, the fandom will try to raise heated topics for debate. Goku, Naruto, Luffy, etc., have all been doing it for the last couple of decades, yet they show no signs of slowing down.

Recently, another ‘clash of the fandoms’ took place between a couple of Big Three anime. The social media went wild with the comparison between One Piece and Naruto. Even though this particular topic has been up for debate since its inception, people still find joy in adding gasoline to these debates. So, instead of focusing on the anime, the debate is regarding who is a better protagonist between Monkey D. Luffy and Naruto.

One Piece and Naruto have changed the anime world for good. The former started in 1999 and the latter in 2002. One Piece follows the story of Monkey D. Luffy, who aims to be the King of the Pirates. He is a rubber man, meaning that he has all the properties of the rubber after he ate the Gum-Gum Devil Fruit. In his journey, he will befriend several people who will become his crewmates and his loyal subjects.

Monkey D. Luffy will face several adversaries on his journey and it is believed to have one of the best world-building in the anime world. On the other hand, Naruto is about a ninja named Naruto Uzumaki, who wishes to be the Hokage one. Due to being the host of a demon fox, the villagers avoid him. But through his hard work, he will gain their trust.

Both anime have millions of followers, and they are always busy fighting with each other. The most recent fight took place on social media when both fandoms were involved in a heated debate surrounding who was the better out of the two protagonists.

The heated debate between the One Piece and the Naruto fans started after a picture was posted on X (formerly Twitter). The photo showcased eight panels, with four dedicated to Luffy and the rest to Naruto. Luffy’s first kiss was Reiju, while Naruto’s was Sasuke. The post read, “The difference between Luffy and Naruto.” One of the fans wrote, “Still #NARUTO is The Best Anime in the World.”
