'That Island?': One Piece's Creator Just Teased A Long-Awaited Adventure For The Straw Hats

One Piece’s creator hinted at the next adventure for the Straw Hat crew during Jump Festa, and it could be the land of the Giants.

Eichiro Oda hinted at the next One Piece arc in a cryptic message read out to viewers worldwide during Jump Festa 2024. The series has had an incredible year, from the highly successful live-action to the conclusion of one of the best arcs, the Wano arc, and now Luffy and the Straw Hats seem to finally be heading to an island teased for two decades: Elbaf.

As the final panel for 2024 Jump Festa, One Piece ended the highly anticipated event with a bang after announcing that a reboot of the anime is in the works, and it will be produced by none other than Wit Studio. This huge news overshadowed a piece of equally exciting news regarding the future of the manga.

Although he did not explicitly state which island the crew will go to next, fans who have kept up with the series for years know that One Piece‘s next adventure will be in the home of the Giants, Elbaf. The message was read out loud by Mayumi Tanaka, the iconic voice actor of Luffy, and it was met with uproar and excitement.

The Straw Hats’ Next Destination Might Be Their Most Exciting

It is customary for the author of the series to send a letter to the fans during their series’ panel, and Oda’s messages are always anticipated, given that he reveals information about the path the manga will take. At last year’s Jump Festa, he revealed that there would be many unexpected fights, and he stayed true to his word. From Garp’s clash with the Blackbeard Pirates, Shanks’ epic fight with Kid, and Luffy’s revenge battle with Kizaru, the manga was action-packed to say the least.

Elbaf is the island inhabited by the Giants, and as the name implies, they are the humongous race of people that appeared throughout the series. Known to have the most powerful army in the world, Elbaf was first mentioned in the Little Garden arc where Luffy and the then incomplete Straw Hat crew met and befriended the two Giants, Dorry and Brogy. Luffy and Usopp especially took a liking to the two Giants for their bravery and warrior’s pride that made them fight daily for 100 years. Still, the island lies far ahead in the New World, and when fans finally got a glimpse of Elbaf in 2023 it was a truly memorable moment.

The rumors about the next journey being in Elbaf are made even more authentic given how close the island is to Egghead, being situated East of Wano and Northeast of Egghead. Vegapunk’s mention that the salvaged library of Ohara lies in Elbaf also teases that this could be the next destination of the crew. What makes this next adventure even more exciting is that Usopp has a chance to be the main focus, as his intense admiration for the warrior tribe inspires him to be brave. Truly, 2024 is shaping up to be another great year to be a One Piece fan.
