Despite being diagnosed with autism, Okeke’s indomitable spirit, talent, and dedication earned him this remarkable accolade. He is an exceptionally gifted artist who has received global recognition for his artistic prowess, defying his health condition.

During the award ceremony, Mayor Baraka commended Okeke for his unwavering diligence, inspirational leadership, and commitment to his community. He praised the strong foundation and ethical values that Okeke is building and will continue to establish in his journey.

Kecia Daniels, the clerk of the City of Newark, also expressed the council’s happiness in accepting Kanyeyachukwu as an honoree of the Lord & Nikes 8th Annual Nigerian Independence Day Celebration 2023.

Kanyeyachukwu Okeke’s dedication to art and his advocacy for diversity and inclusion have earned him global recognition. In 2019, he was honored as a recipient of the Nigerian Independence Day Award for Social Bravery.

Okeke’s artworks have left a lasting impression worldwide, with his paintings adorning the walls of several embassies in Nigeria and foreign mission headquarters around the world. His artistic creations have been showcased in international exhibitions in New York, Washington DC, Malta, and at the OPEC Fund for International Development art exhibition in Vietnam and Austria.
