Zinedine Zidane has made it obvious how he feels about the Man Utd position by referring to the French icon as the ‘favorite’ to succeed Erik ten Hag

Zinedine Zidane says he is interested in a move to Man Utd.

The pressure on Erik ten Hag intensified as United were humiliated 3-0 by neighbors Manchester City at Old Trafford on Sunday. The defeat, which Sky Sports pundit Micah Richards called a “football lesson”, means United have lost five of their opening 10 Premier League games and are nine points behind  City.

As reported earlier this week, former Real Madrid boss Zidane is the favorite to take over at Old Trafford if United decide to part ways with the Ten Hag.

Zidane won the World Cup, European Championship and Champions League during his career and also won the Champions League three times in a row when he was the coach of Real Madrid.

However, the Frenchman quit the job after completing his second spell as Real Madrid coach in the summer of 2021.He has said he would like to return to the dugout in 2022, but personal ambitions are keeping him away from a number of roles.

Moreover, the language barrier prevented him from applying for important jobs in the Premier League such as United. In an interview with L’Equipe, Zidane said: “When I was a player, I could choose any club.As a coach, there are less than 50 clubs I can go to.There are two or three possibilities.

“If I go back to a club, it’s to win. I say this in all modesty. That’s why I can’t go anywhere.

“For other reasons, too, I might not be able to go everywhere. Which ones? The language, for example. Certain conditions make things more difficult.

“When people say to me: ‘Do you want to go to Manchester?’ I understand English but I don’t fully master it.

“I know that there are coaches who go to clubs without speaking the language, but I work differently. To win, many elements come into play. It’s a global context. Me, I know what I need to win.”
