These statements were made in a recent interview, when Shakira shared her belief: “Only death will separate us.” And when receiving difficult questions related to her relationship with Pique, the female singer did not hesitate to answer frankly.

“Before all this happened, were you worried about releasing new music, or were you happy with the mood of a woman in love in Barcelona?” Shakira replied: “My priority is my home, my family. I believe in the promise: “Until death do us part.”

I believe in that dream. We used to cherish this dream for ourselves and for our children. My parents have been together, I don’t know how long but maybe 50 years, and they love each other like the first day, with a love that is unique and will not let go. So I knew it could happen to me.”

Shakira mentioned her own views on love, shaped by her parents’ strong relationship, to Billboard : “My mother never left my side and was always by my father’s side when he was sick. They still kissed.” “That’s what I want for myself and my children, but it’s not happening.”

However, Shakira is always optimistic and ready to accept everything that happens to her: “We cannot predict what will happen in life and each person has a different way of behaving. If life gives You have a lemon, you have to make lemonade. That’s what I’m doing: if you receive a lemon, you have to make lemonade.”

In a follow-up conversation about her breakup with Barcelona soccer icon Gerard Pique, fiery singer Shakira opened up about how the breakup affected her career. Notably, music had to play a secondary role during Shakira’s 11-year relationship and while she raised their two children, Milan and Sasha.

The female singer shared about the difficulty of having to balance career and family responsibilities in an interview with Billboard: “The problem is, I spent a lot of time with Pique, with my family. For me, continuing career during Barcelona was very difficult. It was very complicated to have a collaborator there.

I have to wait for schedules to coincide or wait for work to arrive at the right time I’m here. I can’t take the initiative. I can’t leave my children and simply walk around the house making music. It is difficult to maintain professional rhythm.”
