Inter Miami is preparing for an exciting 2024.
After ending last year on a sour note, the Herons are making sure that the roster is in top shape before the upcoming Major League Soccer season.
Miami failed to make the playoffs in 2023 despite winning the Leagues Cup in the summer. Fatigue, national team call-ups, and lack of true depth handicapped the Herons in the latter half of the season.
However, with the new campaign right around the corner, the organization has laid the foundation for a successful year.
When Luis Suarez’s Inter Miami debut could be
According to Sporting Director Chris Henderson, Miami is amid a roster revamp.
“We’re looking at everything to [improve the squad.] We have high hopes for 2024, and we want to show what we can do as a club,” Henderson said at his end-of-year conference.
“Winning trophies and having high ambition is something we’ve had since day one.”
One of those additions came in the form of striker Luis Suarez. The Uruguayan has long been linked to a move to MLS, but it wasn’t until Inter Miami came calling in the summer that the rumors became more concrete.
The 36-year-old officially signed with the team on December 22nd, giving Miami supporters something to look forward to in 2024.
“I’m very happy and excited to take on this new challenge with Inter Miami,” Suarez said in the press release.
“I can’t wait to get started, and I’m ready to work to make the dream of winning more titles with this great Club a reality. I’m optimistic about what we can achieve together with our shared ambition.”
Suarez will likely make his Inter Miami debut against El Salvador on January 19th.
The Herons officially return from their off season break on January 7th, with medicals set to take place at Inter Miami’s training facilities.
Though ‘Lucho’ may turn 37 at the start of next season, he still has the attacking ability to help carry the men in pink to more silverware.
