Israel Adesanya Breaks Silence on Rumors of a Spectacular UFC 300 Return, Contemplating Comeback After Unexpected Loss to Sean Strickland.

New Zealand fighter Israel Adesanya has responded to rumours that he could make a shock return at UFC 300.

Adesanya, 34, announced a hiatus from fighting following his defeat by Sean Strickland at UFC 293 in Sydney, which saw the Kiwi lose his middleweight title to the outspoken American.

On Wednesday, he also learned that he had been discharged without conviction after his lawyer revealed that the UFC superstar was at risk of losing lucrative sponsorship deals over his drink driving charge.

This came after he admitted to an incident of drink driving on August 19, 2023.

Now, the New Zealander has shed light on when his timeline for a return may be.

‘The Last Stylebender’ recently made comments at the ‘Day of Reckoning’ boxing event in Saudi Arabia which implied he could be back in the Octagon sooner than expected.

Speaking to Combat TV, he said: ‘When I come back into the gym and start training full-time, I’m in a new space with a new energy.

‘Probably end of next month, maybe. But I think with the way I heal, my body, I don’t think maybe it will take that long.

‘But yeah, end of next month, I’m probably thinking maybe earlier. We’ll see. I’m gonna go do rehab now… Things are tracking along nicely.’

It comes as a historic UFC 300 card approaches on April 13 in Las Vegas.

Recently, it was revealed Adesanya could be in attendance at UFC 297 after his lawyer dropped a major hint during his drink driving hearing on Wednesday.

The former champion has long insisted that he has no desire to get back in the Octagon in the near future, but the UFC may be plotting a dramatic return if his lawyer’s words in court ring true.

Adesanya was in Auckland District Court on Wednesday to hear his drink driving case, in which he tested over the limit after a night out with friends in August last year.

According to Stuff, Adesanya’s lawyer, Karl Trotter, begged the judge not to send his client to jail, arguing that sponsorship contracts potentially worth hundreds of thousands of dollars were at stake for the fighter who has taken a short hiatus from MMA.
