Ricky Hatton questions how much Tyson Fury ‘has got left’ in boxing following his trilogy series with Deontay Wilder, as the Gypsy King prepares to take on Oleksandr Usyk

Ricky Hatton has raised questions over how much Tyson Fury ‘has got left’ in boxing following his trilogy series with Deontay Wilder.

After drawing his initial fight with Wilder in 2018 following his return to boxing, Fury managed to get the better of the Bronze Bomber in 2020 and 2021.

The grueling series clearly had a significant impact on Fury physically, with Hatton suggesting that it will be difficult for the Gypsy King to carry on fighting for a prolonged period.

Since his most recent victory over Wilder, Fury has overcome Derek Chisora and Francis Ngannou – surviving a scare to prevail against the latter.

However, Hatton is uncertain regarding Fury’s future in boxing, and fears what effect the Wilder trilogy might have on a potential bout with Anthony Joshua down the line.

Ricky Hatton has questioned how much longer Tyson Fury ‘has got left’ in boxing

Hatton stressed that Fury’s trilogy with Deontay Wilder will have had a big effect on him

Hatton told OLGB: ‘You don’t get a bigger fight. It’s one of the biggest fights in British boxing history. It’s a great clash of styles.

‘Tyson’s always in entertaining fights, so is AJ, and it was only a couple of fights ago we thought his best days were behind him but in his last couple of fights he has looked really impressive.

‘But Tyson on the other hand has been the best heavyweight for a good number of years and I still have him as number one, but we just need to know what Tyson has got left.’

Hatton stressed that Fury ‘didn’t look in the best shape’ during his recent fights.

He continued: ‘Don’t forget it’s not just the three Wilder fights, it’s the lifestyle he’s had as well where he’s had to lose ten stone in the past and what it does to the body and then having them three wars with Deontay Wilder.

‘It might be too many miles on the clock for Tyson or maybe he took him lightly because he didn’t look in the best shape.’

Fury is currently fully focused on his eagerly-anticipated clash with Oleksandr Usyk on February 17 in Saudi Arabia.

However, two-time welterweight champion Shawn Porter has claimed that Fury could pull out of the fight.

Fury, who beat Francis Ngannou, is now preparing for his fight against Oleskandr Usyk

Speaking to ProBox TV, Porter said: ‘You look at a guy like Tyson Fury, a guy who has been around this track so many times.

‘I think that a fighter will get to a point where they see the hardest night ahead of them and they’re like, ‘Man, I just had so many of those hard nights, I am not going to have that hard night.’

‘What we know about Tyson Fury is that he is a showman, what we know about Tyson Fury is that he likes things to be his way or no way.

‘Which is why he went after Francis Ngannou, because those are the kind of fights that he is looking for.

‘He is looking for things that are going to give him the money and the recognition and the nights that he is not going to have to train hard for anymore.’
