The Boys’ actors Erin Moriarty and Karen Fukuhara reveal if they would ever make a cameo appearance as Starlight and Kimiko on the Gen V spinoff show.
The Boys’ stars Erin Moriarty and Karen Fukuhara have weighed in on whether their characters Starlight and Kimiko will eventually appear on Gen V. Serving as the first live-action spinoff of Prime Video’s popular superhero satire, Gen V season 1 made its streaming debut this past September and set the groundwork for The Boys season 4.
Featuring several cameo appearances from the franchise’s flagship series, Gen V saw the likes of Jessie T. Usher’s A-Train, Jensen Ackles’s Soldier Boy, Antony Starr’s Homelander and Karl Urban’s Butcher provide the connective tissue between the new spinoff and the original show.
During a panel at this year’s L.A. Comic Con (via The Direct), Moriarty and Fukuhara were asked if they were interested in making their own cameo appearances in Gen V season 2 or beyond. Kimiko actor Fukuhara revealed that she’s already been discussing potential crossovers with showrunner Eric Kripke, and suggested that her character and Tomer Capone’s Frenchie need to make an appearance. Meanwhile, Moriarty was also enthusiastic about the prospect but suggested any such move needs to be purposeful. Check out their comments below:
Fukuhara: Yes, I’ve already talked to [Eric] Kripke about it. I don’t know how, but I think Frenchie and Kimiko need to make an appearance somehow. I mean, they must be on a mission somewhere in that world, right?
Moriarty: First of all, hell yes, I would love to be in [‘Gen V’]. But second of all, I’m all for, like–[Eric Kripke] is gonna sprinkle in those characters, not just cause. Not just to get people to watch it. It’s never going to be arbitrary. It’s going to be purposeful, right? And I just hope that some characters follow suit perhaps with either the vigilante component and like sticking it to the man or something Starlight-esque where they [rebel] in a similar way… I want to stay in this universe, in some iteration. I’d stay in it forever. But I think there would be a cool way to enter it when the time is right for our kinds of presence in that world.
Fukuhara: “[Gen V definitely needs] an episode full of The Boys.
How Starlight and Kimiko Could Appear in Gen V Season 2
While Gen V season 1 included several high-profile cameos from The Boys, the spinoff’s showrunner Michele Fazekas has been vocal about the need for her show to be able to stand independently of The Boys. Thankfully, while appearances from characters like Homelander and Butcher demonstrated how interwoven the two shows were, the focus was always firmly on Gen V’s own characters, and the crossovers never detracted from the story being told.
If Fukuhara and Moriarty are to follow suit with their own Gen V season 2 cameos, it is vital they too do not seek to overshadow Jaz Sinclair’s Marie Moreau and her friends from Godolkin University, and only appear for a reason that helps to further their narratives. Perhaps the surprising Gen V season 1 finale may provide The Boys’ stars with the opening they need for their own crossovers.
With Gen V season 1 leaving Marie, Andre, Emma, and Jordan locked away in a mysterious room without walls, it is not beyond the realm of possibility that Butcher and his team could learn of their imprisonment during the events of The Boys season 4. Most likely detained in a Vought facility, it would make sense for Butcher to send Kimiko and Starlight on a potential rescue mission, given their superpowers and true efforts during the Godolkin massacre. Moreover, Moriarty’s Starlight would be the ideal character to provide the younger Gen V characters with insight into the true nature of Vought and their legion of supes.
