Unveiling Marie’s Whereabouts in ‘The Boys’—’Gen V’ Holds Her Captive in High-Stakes Drama.

The Boys season 3’s ending might have given away where Gen V season 1’s ending left Marie, but this isn’t good news for the spinoff’s heroine.

While Gen V’s ending left Marie, Jordan, Emma, and Andre in a tight spot, The Boys season 3 might have already inadvertently revealed where they are being held captive. In Gen V season 1, episode 8, “Guardians of Godolkin,” Cate and Sam attempted to slaughter the non-supes on Godolkin University’s campus as Marie intervened.

Although Marie almost defeated Cate and stopped the massacre, Homelander showed up in time to save Cate and Sam, thwart Marie’s heroism, and leave Gen V’s heroine in an unenviable position. After Homelander knocked out Marie, she woke up trapped inside a doorless white room with Jordan, Andre, and Emma, and no sign of her captors.

Although Gen V season 2 will answer the mystery of where the group of supes ended up, a series of fan theories have speculated about their whereabouts in the meantime. One suggests that Mallory managed to intervene, and she is keeping the supes in the same safe house that was once home to Soldier Boy. This would come with its own set of complications, but it is much better than another alternative. Another darker fan therapy suggests that Marie and her friends are trapped inside Cate’s mind, which would explain the doorless room’s seemingly impossible layout. However, both these theories discount a possibility set up by The Boys season 3.

Gen V Ends With Marie And Her Friends Imprisoned In An All-White Room

Queen Maeve’s Plight Mirrors Marie’s Gen V Season 1 Ending Fate

The all-white room that Marie, Emma, Jordan, and Andre are trapped in looks a lot like the one that held Queen Maeve hostage for much of The Boys season 3. Queen Maeve was largely wasted in season 3 since she spent most of the outing trapped in a secure facility within Vought’s headquarters, which was done to ensure that she couldn’t help Starlight and Mother’s Milk spread the truth about Homelander’s crimes. Although Queen Maeve did eventually escape, this only happened because The Deep and Ashley were forced to move her out of the Vought building due to mounting public pressure. Consequently, this could be terrible news for Marie and company after Gen V season 1.

As Starlight’s “#FreeMaeve” campaign gained support, the odds of the authorities gaining a search warrant increased. Ashley and The Deep tried to move Queen Maeve to another secure facility after knocking her out, but The Boys heroine woke up in transit, defeated the guards holding her hostage, and escaped. However, Queen Maeve was a beloved public figure when she went missing. In contrast, Gen V’s season 1’s ending saw Vought make Marie and her friends look like monsters since they were blamed for Cate and Sam’s human hunting antics. As they are wanted for a killing spree, it will be tough to get the public to care about their disappearance.

Queen Maeve Was Held Captive In A Similar Environment In The Boys Season 3

Gen V’s Heroes Might Be Trapped By Queen Maeve’s Captors

Maeve’s cell looked a lot like the space that held Marie and her friends hostage in Gen V’s ending. The biggest similarity between the two rooms is their shared all-white color scheme and the noticeable black line that runs around both rooms about a foot from the ceiling. This distinctive design makes it seem likely that the Gen V heroes are being held hostage in Vought Tower, even if they aren’t necessarily in the exact same holding cell that once hosted Maeve. The biggest difference between the rooms is the fact that Maeve’s cell at least had a door. This makes Gen V’s prison even worse than season 3’s setting.

The fact that Gen V’s heroine Marie is trapped in a room that seemingly has no door does lend credence to the idea that this cell is actually a psychic space within Cate’s mind and not a literal room. However, it is also very possible that Vought has simply upgraded their technology. Although Maeve couldn’t escape from Vought’s underground facility, the company had no way of hiding her if the authorities came knocking. Their new holding cells might have utilized more advanced technology, meaning they don’t need doors and can’t be detected by an old-fashioned building search. Thus, the group could be inside Vought Tower after all – a theory Gen V‘s Andre actor Chance Perdomo supports.

The Gen V Characters Will Have A Harder Time Escaping Vought Tower Than Maeve

Marie and Gen V’s Heroes Don’t Have Starlight’s Help (Unlike Queen Maeve)

Starlight doesn’t have access to Vought anymore and there aren’t any remotely heroic people left in The Seven or the company, meaning Gen V’s heroes will have a harder time escaping their prison than Queen Maeve did. Add in the fact that they don’t have the public’s sympathy (unlike Maeve), and it seems like the only way they’re getting out is if The Boys season 4 sees the antiheroes pull off an ambitious heist. Alternatively, the non-supe Vought executives could turn on Homelander. Either way, Gen V’s heroes are in a worse situation than The Boys heroine Queen Maeve was in season 3, and even she barely survived her ordeal.
