Speaking exclusively to Mail Sport, via Free Bets, John said: ‘Nothing equals the night he beat Wladimir Klitschko. If he ended it all there, that would have done me.

‘You know, one world title is the same as the other. As Tyson said himself, he’s had all of the belts. I think he just wants to do this to close people’s mouths.

‘But, I don’t think it’s over for Tyson. If they [his camp] can make the right adjustments, I think he’s got years left in the game.

‘There’s a lot more out there for Tyson. There’s even that great spectacle with Anthony Joshua. Anthony Joshua is right back in the mix now.

‘He’s done everything right. If he gets through Francis Ngannou and Tyson gets through Usyk, it’s there isn’t it.

‘If they both win their respective contests, the sky is the limit. It will be a good one for the viewers.’

John has never been one to hold back when it comes to sharing his opinion. He has landed himself in hot water more than once for airing his concerns over the people surrounding Tyson.

John blamed Tyson’s camp for his poor showing on October 28 against Francis Ngannou and said the Gypsy King must make stylistic changes to beat Usyk in February.

When asked whether his comments had tarnished his relationship with Tyson, John emphasised the fact he was just looking out for his son – stating all he’s ever wanted ‘is the best for his children’.

John said: ‘It’s always going to be hard, a father son relationship. But, sometimes, the best advice comes from those people closest to you because don’t forget, all those people [Tyson’s team] are being paid handsomely for what they are doing.

‘The difference is with me, he is going to get the best out of me and my opinion for free. I just want him to win. I want him to go into the ring looking like an athlete instead of something that has been dragged out of the saloon.

‘All you want for your children is the best.

‘When everyone was on an even keel, working together, we beat the best man of his era Klitschko. Now things have changed so much. You start believing in these people.

‘My deceased brother said to me, sometimes it can be a downfall putting all of your eggs into one basket and listening to one piece of advice. I’ve said it before, if you can’t get it right the first time, there is a high chance you won’t get it right the second time.’
