Two NFL fanbases have taken issue with Travis Kelce’s treatment of Taylor Swift.

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has hit out at Buffalo Bills fans for their “disrespectful” treatment of his family and pop star girlfriend Taylor Swift

Travis Kelce has hit out at “disrespectful” Buffalo Bills fans for their treatment of Taylor Swift and his family – and they are the second NFL fanbase he has taken exception with.

The Kansas City Chiefs star wasn’t happy with how Bills supporters acted before his team won their NFL Playoff game last weekend. The ‘Bills Mafia’ are known for passionate support of their team, but they targeted Kelce’s girlfriend, Taylor Swift, his family, and his teammate Patrick Mahomes.

Kelce didn’t say exactly what the fans did, but he told his brother on their podcast that he felt it crossed the line. In response, he decided to “spread the love” with a heart-shaped celebration gesture when he scored a touchdown.

“I had to spread the love baby, you’ve always got to spread that love, baby,” Kelce said on his ‘New Heights’ Podcast. “There was a lot of hate pulling up to that stadium… understandably, it’s a football game. Did it get a little disrespectful? 1,000 percent. I’m not going to say [what] because that’s what they want, I’m not going to relay it.

“Some things were said about the family, some pretty inappropriate things were said about Pat Mahomes. It was pretty whack. I get it, coming into a hostile environment. I just wanted them to know it isn’t mutual… I don’t hate you guys like you hate us. It’s all love, baby.”

This isn’t the first time he’s spoken out against rival team fans for their behaviour towards his family. Before the 2022 season game against the New England Patriots, Kelce expressed his feelings on their fans on his podcast.

“I’m not sure if it’s mutual, but I absolutely hate playing the Patriots,” Kelce said. “I’m mad at them calling out my mom in the stands. Your momma jokes are cool, just when you say them to me, not my mom.

“Like, when mom’s leaving the stadium, she’s getting heckled, you know, that’s just [expletive] low blows, man. A lot of people say they go into New England and just get a bad taste in their mouth about Patriots fans.”

This season, Kelce returned to Foxboro to face the Patriots, with new girlfriend Taylor Swift also in attendance. Despite some boos from Patriots fans as the Chiefs won 27-17, there were also cheers.

“I’ll say this – they showed Taylor at the game,” Kelce said after the 2023 game. “And I mean, you don’t see an entire home team fan base go insane for somebody wearing the opposite team’s colours. Just shows you how amazing that girl is. They went absolutely insane when they showed Taylor on the screen, yes.”

Patrick Mahomes experienced a frosty reception from opposing fans after winning his first road playoff game in Buffalo. As he left the field, he was pelted with snowballs by the crowd.

Despite this, Mahomes took time to interact with some of the few Chiefs fans present, giving a memento to an excited supporter wearing his jersey. On the field, he completed 17 out of 23 passes for 215 yards and two touchdown passes to Travis Kelce. This feat saw them overtake Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski’s record for the most touchdowns in playoffs between a quarterback-receiver duo.

The Chiefs now face a challenging match against the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship game on Feb. 28 at MandT Bank Stadium. The Chiefs have previously lost to the Ravens, with their last defeat being a 30-7 loss in the 2010 Wild Card round. In their most recent regular season matchup, Baltimore defeated Kansas City 36-35 in Week 2 of the 2021 season.
