And, Dua Lipa, 24, has slammed 𝑠e𝑥ism in the music industry and got candid about the impact of online criticism, in a new interview.

The New Rules hitmaker insisted: ‘There is a lot less scrutiny of male pop stars’ and also admitted that online trolling made her feel she ‘wasn’t worth it.’

Speaking to The Sunday Times, Dua said: ‘There is a lot less scrutiny of male pop stars… People like to just objectify women, before explaining the impact.

‘Online criticism can make you feel like you’re not good enough, so I was nervous. It felt like a breeding ground for hate and stopped me being proud of my achievements.

‘Instead of feeling something was amazing, it made me feel I wasn’t worth it…we have to protect our mental health.

‘I wish social media companies could make it a safer space. It’s just become unkind,’ insisted the star.

Dua explained how she wants to start a ‘conversation’ about gender disparity, because she feels that the problems begin from a very young age.

Elsewhere in the interview, she revealed that on her way home from school, she would put keys between her knuckles for fear of boys.

She vented: ‘We constantly change the way we are so we don’t get harassed. Cover our bodies so boys don’t say things.

‘From when we are kids we are told the way boys act towards us is completely normal.’

Last week, Dua revealed that she had pulled forward the date of her second album to March 27 instead of April 3.

And the Don’t Start Now hitmaker revealed her music video for new single Break My Heart ahead of the release of Future Nostalgia on Friday.

Break My Heart looks at the ‘trials and tribulations’ of relationships with Dua singing ‘am I falling in love with the one who could break my heart’.

Dua was due to release Future Nostalgia on April 3, but announced she had pulled the date forward to March 27.

Growing emotional, announced the news last week, saying: ‘I hope it brings you some happiness and I hope it makes you smile, and I hope I make you proud.’
