If Chiefs coach Andy Reid decides to retire, Travis Kelce informs his brother Jason that he will leave the NFL

Travis Kelce has thrown his NFL future into doubt following the fallout to his heated exchange with Andy Reid in the Super Bowl.

During the first half of the contest against the 49ers, the Chiefs star got in ‘Big Red’s’ face and yelled at him because he was upset about being taken out of the game.

The 6ft 5in, 250lb tight end was so irate that he bumped into Reid causing the 65-year-old to stumble.

However, all was forgiven as the Chiefs came back to win the game after sealing a dramatic 25-22 overtime victory.

It’s all love between Reid and Kelce too, with Travis going as far to say that he’d quit the NFL if Reid retired this off-season.

Discussing the heated altercation with Reid on his New Heights podcast with brother Jason, Travis said: “I’m a passionate guy.

“I love coach Reid. Coach Reid knows how much I love to play for him, how much I love to be a product of his coaching career.

“I’m not playing for anybody else but Big Red.

“If he calls it quits this year, I’m out there with him, man.”

“He ain’t calling it quits,” Jason responded.

“He’s not,” Travis confirmed.

Speculation has been rife that Reid could walk away from the sport this summer, especially after securing the third Super Bowl of his career.

However, the Chiefs HC confirmed that he would return next season to help the team achieve a historic three-peat in 2024/2025.

Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid has piece of advice for Travis Kelce over his relationship with Taylor Swift

“I haven’t had time to think about it but yeah, sure,” Reid told reporters when asked if he plans to return.

“I haven’t even thought about (retirement),” he said. “People keep asking me. I haven’t really gone there. I haven’t really thought about it.”

Chiefs owner Clark Hunt also told the NFL Network after the game that he expects Reid to return in 2024.

“I know Andy loves what he’s doing. We certainly appreciated him as a family,” Hunt said.

“Our organisation is what it is because of Andy and he’s got a special relationship with everybody in it.

“I’m expecting for him to be back next year as we go for the three-peat.

Earlier in the podcast, Travis and Jason discussed the sideline incident with Reid that threatened to throw the Chiefs’ Super Bowl into disarray.

“You caught Big Red off guard a little bit,” Jason said.

“As he said, I got him with a cheap shot,” Travis replied. “People are all over this and I get it. I went … ”

“You went — you crossed the line,” Jason said. “I think we can both agree on that.”

“I did. I can’t get that fired up to the point where I’m bumping coach and it’s getting him off balance and stuff,” Travis said. “When he stumbled, I’m just like, ‘Oh s***,’ in my head.”

“Let’s be honest: The yelling in his face, too, is over the top,” Jason said. “I think there’s better ways to handle this, retrospectively.”

Luckily for Kelce and Reid their altercation did not have a detrimental affect on the Chiefs.

Reid joked about the exchange with Kelce afterwards, saying: “He caught me off balance. Normally I’d give him a little but I didn’t have any feet under me.”

“The part I love is that he [Kelce] loves to play the game and he wants to help his team win,” Reid also told reporters.

“It’s not a selfish thing, that’s not what it is, and I understand that. So as much as he bumps into me, I get after him and we understand that.”
