DARK DAY: Without Hojlund, Man Utd completely collapsed over Fullham as just simple counterattack despite Maguire’s efforts on a day

Despite playing at home at Old Trafford, Man Utd’s performance versus Fulham was quite dismal for much the entirety of the scheduled game. In the Premier League round 26 match, coach Ten Hag’s team displayed a poor offensive and a poor defence.

In the sixty-sixth minute, Fulham took the lead after numerous chances were wasted.

Man Utd did not equalise until the 89th minute, and the home squad performed brilliantly in the minutes that followed.

But when they were smacked with a counterattack in the 90+7 minute, the “Red Devils,” consumed on winning, paid the price. Fulham’s late goal gave them all three points.Due to an injury sustained by Hojlund after practice, manager Ten Hag chose to add young youngster Forson to the attacking trio of Rashford, Garnacho, and Man Utd.

Following the opening whistle, the home team launched a concerted offensive, but it was ineffective, while Fulham’s counterattacks quickly created an impression. Thanks to nimble counterattacks, the opposition consistently scored shots on Man Utd’s goal in the first half. Iwobi attempted two separate attempts to score from near Man Utd’s penalty area, but he was unsuccessful both times.Man Utd didn’t have their first opportunity to pose a threat until the thirty-first minute. Dalot fired a middle-of-the-field shot that sailed past goalie Leno and struck the outer edge of the left column before disappearing.Fulham answered right away. Muniz finished in the middle of the penalty area in the 33rd minute after deftly covering Lindelof with his body.Onana watched as the ball struck the right post and bounced out.Even though Man Utd outperformed the opposition in attack for the remainder of the first half, Leno had little trouble stopping the shots from the Old Trafford squad. The first half ended in a 0-0 stalemate between the two teams, with no goals scored.

Coach Ten Hag promptly made personnel adjustments after realising that his kids’ playing style had reached a standstill. Eriksen was substituted in for Forson in the 53rd minute. McTominay was also replaced because Casemiro was hurt and could not play any longer.Although Fulham stuck to their defensive counterattacking strategy, the opposition scored after a predetermined scenario. When a corner kick was given in the 66th minute, Bassey sprinted in to cushion the ball, which struck a Fulham player and bounced back. The ball struck the net’s roof as soon as Bassey, who was roughly 6 metres away, completed the rebound. Fulham won the game 1-0.

Man Utd attempted to up their attack after the loss in an attempt to find an equaliser, but they were unable to effect a shift. Ten Hag’s squad didn’t have many shots, and the ones they did have didn’t pose much of a threat to Leno’s goal.In the 89th minute, Man Utd unexpectedly found an equaliser to break the deadlock. From outside the penalty area, Fernandes scored. Leno denied Maguire a close-range goal by pushing the ball out of reach.

Man Utd players were ecstatic after the 1-1 equaliser. For the next six or so minutes, they applied constant pressure to Fulham, putting the away team’s goal in jeopardy. Fulham, though, is still unwavering. In the ninety-seventh minute, Man Utd was attacked with a counterattack as they were deep in attack. After quickening his pace and edging past Maguire and Garnacho, Adama Traore found Iwobi with a pass that put the ball in the net, giving Fulham a 2-1 victory.Because to the home team’s inadequate defence against counterattacks, Iwobi was able to receive the ball and take a shot from the top of the penalty area. Onana watched as the ball entered the near corner, motionless. Man Utd lost their tenth Premier League game of the season after conceding a second goal that prevented them from rallying.

The positive run came to an end as Man Utd finished with 45 points, 7 points behind Aston Villa, who finished in fourth place and qualified for the Champions League the following year.
