Anthony Joshua kickstarts Under Armour’s hunt for the next generation of London athletes with a bang.

Anthony JoshŅa, an Under Armour player, unveiled the headquarters for Under Armour (UA) Next today. UA is an athletic program created to find, develop, and coach London’s future young athletes and sports leaders. Shashing his way through the storefront glass, JoshŅa latched the new Battersea Power Station Brand House, which houses the UA Next Academy.

UA Next is an ecosystem that improves young athletes by providing them with the necessary resources to prepare, compete, and recuperate. Thousands more will gain from the testing and training offered at the Battersea Power Station Brand House online, even if only 12 athletes will be named UA Next Athletes after the selection process. Participants in the program must be between the ages of 16 and 20, and the top 12 will be awarded a one-year contract with Under Armour.

The study confirms government findings that youth activity levels in the UK have decreased in comparison to pre-pandemic levels, with just 44.6% of children aged 5 to 16 reporting 60 minutes or more of physical activity per day in 2020–2021 (down from 46.8% in 2018–19). Specifically, just 45.3% of London’s residents completed the required activity, making it the second lowest performing area in the UK.
