Rasmus Hojlund breaks silence on rumours his Man Utd team-mates were angry over controversial interview

RASMUS HOJLUND has rubbished the idea that there was internal push-back from his team-mates following his interview with The United Stand.

The Manchester United striker sat down with the fan channel’s controversial owner Mark Goldbridge last month.

It was reported by the Daily Mail that Goldbridge had received a number of death threats following the interview and a police investigation was launched into the online scares.

While there was also suggestion that some Man Utd players had voiced frustration with Hojlund for doing the interview, with Goldbridge’s channel well known to be critical of Red Devils players at times.

However the 21-year-old has shut down the claims of his team-mates taking issue with the interview and labelled it as “fake news”.

Speaking to Danish media, he said: “Nothing has been said to me, so it is fake news.

“I haven’t read anything about it, but it’s definitely not true that I have been told that I can’t do an interview with one fan media or another.”

Hojlund agreed to the interview with Goldbridge and The United Stand to fulfil a promise he had made after his £72m arrival from Atalanta in the summer.

The United Stand themselves say that they have received warnings to Goldbridge that he is “a dead man walking” with others threatening to harm him if goes to Old Trafford again following the interview.

And the messages, which were sent on social media, also “mentioned other members of staff and the exact location of the studio”.

The divisive channel has amassed a huge following online since it was created over a decade ago.

The outlet’s YouTube has an incredible 1.83m subscribers while the official X account betters that with 2.3m followers.

Goldbridge – whose real name is Brent Di Cesare – previously discussed the backlash, saying: “I totally understand that football is a passionate and divisive sport, and that people are free to decide and have an opinion on what content they consume.

“However, the pile-on some of our staff were subject to over the weekend was incredibly sad to witness.

“To be threatening people’s lives yet again evidences the vile pack mentality that exists on social media.”

Rasmus Hojlund is currently away on international duty with Denmark preparing for clashes with Switzerland and Faroe Islands.

But all eyes will then return to the Premier League for the striker with United taking on Brentford, Chelsea and Liverpool after the break.
