Chelsea interested in ‘fabulous’ 21-year-old attacker but he’s not a priority this summer

One attacking midfielder is not a priority for Chelsea right now, but the Blues are still reportedly interested in him.

Conor Gallagher has often played as a No.10 for Chelsea this season, while it is also Cole Palmer’s natural position.

However, Palmer has spent most of the campaign on the right where he has thrived.

In 34 appearances for Mauricio Pochettino‘s side, the Englishman has scored 14 goals and provided 12 assists.

The No.10 role is one that Palmer can easily play, then, but having him in the squad has not stopped links with Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala.

What is Chelsea’s current position on Jamal Musiala?

According to CaughtOffside, Musiala is not a priority target for Chelsea at this moment in time.

However, the same outlet has also claimed that the Blues do have some interest in the 21-year-old, so perhaps they could end up making a move for him in the summer.

It is not a signing that Chelsea fans would be against. The Germany international, of course, came through the Blues’ academy and has developed into quite some player.

This season, he has scored 10 goals and set up another five in 21 Bundesliga appearances.

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand recently described him as a “fabulous footballer” on TNT Sports.

Chelsea need to sign one of Jamal Musiala or Florian Wirtz this summer

If Pochettino wants to bring in a new attacking midfielder in the next transfer window, then Musiala and Florian Wirtz need to be at the top of his list.

In their position, they are the next big things in the game, already making a huge impact for Bayern and Bayer Leverkusen respectively and the Germany national team.

The goal Wirtz scored for Julian Nagelsmann’s men yesterday against France was phenomenal.

It will not be easy to sign either player — they will be in demand — but again, if Pochettino is eager to add another No.10 to his squad, then these are the two names that the club need to be looking at.
