Chelsea have eight strikers on their shortlist, ‘world-class’ £100m man is their priority

It’s certainly our wish for Chelsea to go out and show the intent this summer to sign a striker that will guarantee you 20-plus goals next season. Therefore, it’s encouraging to read reports that the Blues do have a shortlist that includes some big-name forwards.

Our belief is that the Blues will only properly get back alongside the best teams around once they bring in a prolific attacker.

Mauricio Pochettino’s squad at Stamford Bridge is filled with a lot of potential, but the lack of experience and know-how leaves them unstuck at times.

So, who do Chelsea have on their radar right now?

Chelsea priority target has 13 goals in 24 games this season

Fresh reports suggest that Napoli centre-forward Victor Osimhen is Chelsea’s main target going into the summer.

The 25-year-old Nigerian star has had a stop-start campaign so far due to injuries and international commitments, but he’s been a menace in the Serie A division in recent years.

Speaking via Roma’s official website back in December, Jose Mourinho described Osimhen as a “world-class striker”.

HITC Football has claimed that Napoli’s Osimhen is the ‘top striker target’ for Chelsea.

It is explained that the player’s got a release clause worth around £110 million. Apparently, interested buyers may not have to pay that in full, but his signature may still be in excess of £100 million.

The report adds that Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea are the leading candidates to sign the African frontman, but the latter’s warned that their budget is not unlimited.

This comes after claims by Il Mattino that Osimhen would actually favour a transfer move to Paris to play for PSG.

Chelsea have another seven strikers on shortlist

HITC Football’s report does state that Chelsea have alternative attacking options on their radar.

Apart from Osimhen, the Blues are also monitoring Brentford’s Ivan Toney, Sporting Lisbon’s Viktor Gyokeres, Inter Milan’s Lauturo Martinez, Brighton’s Evan Ferguson, Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak, plus RB Leipzig duo Lois Openda and Benjamin Sesko.

It’s quite a stellar list of names when you see them all in front of you.

The likes of Osimhen, Martinez and Gyokeres have scored a lot of goals elsewhere in Europe. We’d really be tempted by Toney or Isak if a reasonable fee can be agreed, though
