Outrage Erupts: The Boys Rewrite History with ‘Happy Homelander Day,’ Stealing Spotlight from National Superhero Day!

The Boys make fun of National Superhero Day with a rebranding incorporating Antony Starr’s Homelander.

The Boys celebrated National Superhero Day in a way that brings attention back to Antony Starr’s Homelander. Though the character implies that it is the people who are “the real heroes,” Vought International has rebranded the special day to focus on Homelander rather than the world’s other Supes from The Boys.

Vought, the fictional corporation seen in The Boys, utilizes a real-life X account with in-universe posts as a way of keeping fans engaged with the show in between seasons. The latest post came on National Superhero Day, and it came with a special poster featuring Homelander and American imagery. The word “superhero” has been crossed out on the poster, redubbing the special occasion by saying, “Happy Homelander Day.” The post can be seen below.

The included caption reads, “This National Superhero Day, we’re celebrating someone who deserves his own day, just to himself. That’s why we’re rebranding it NATIONAL HOMELANDER DAY. Join us in thanking the strongest, smartest and most selfless hero ever!”

The Boys Season 4 Is Coming Soon

The post comes ahead of the fourth season of The Boys coming to Prime Video in June. Fans have been waiting for the new season since Season 3 wrapped up in July 2022, though Gen V helped a bit with the long wait. Social media posts are also adding more hype to Season 4 of The Boys, which has also been seen with political posters spoofing the presidential race. There have also been reports that Season 5 is in the early works as well, so hopefully the wait for the next one after Season 4 won’t be quite as long. Showrunner Eric Kripke had previously estimated a five-season run for the show but has since teased that it could end up going much longer than that.

“I have since realized that literally no one in history is worse at predicting the amount of seasons of a show, like literally,” Kripke said in an interview with Inverse, referring to how his other show, Supernatural, wound up having a run of 15 seasons. “I have learned my lesson and I’ve stopped predicting how many seasons these shows go. You will find out in hindsight.”

Season 4 of The Boys will premiere on June 13, 2024, on Prime Video. All three prior seasons are currently streaming along with the first season of Gen V and the animated spinoff, The Boys Presents: Diabolical.
