Halle Berry recreated one of the most iconic Oscars moments of the current century when she reunited with The Brutalist star Adrien Brody.
The 58-year-old actress, who won her Oscar in 2002 for Monster’s Ball, grabbed Brody and planted a shocking kiss on his lips as soon as they came face-to-face again on the Academy Awards red carpet at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
She joked that the surprise smooch was ‘payback after Brody pulled her in for a dramatic kiss at 2003 ceremony, just after he won his Academy Award for The Pianist.
‘I’m sorry, Georgina, but I’ve gotta do it,’ Halle declared to Brody’s partner Georgina Chapman as she interrupted his chat with red carpet reporters.
Then she wrapped an arm around his neck and grabbed his shoulder with her other hand as she went in for the kiss.
The onlookers cried out in shock and cheered, and Adrien was quick to embrace Halle for the full dramatic effect.

The Oscar nominee grinned affectionately at her after the kiss, and they embraced against for a sweet hug as Georgina clapped.
The stars first caused a scandal at the 2003 Oscars ceremony, when Halle, who the previous year, presented the award for Best Actor.
After she introduced a montage that featured past winners of the category going back to the start of the ceremony, Adrien was crowned the winner for starring in Roman Polanski’s acclaimed Holocaust drama The Pianist.
Brody broke a record with the win, become the youngest Best Actor winner at 29 years old.
As he arrived on stage, he grasped Halle for a surprise kiss. He went even further than she did years later by dipping her and holding the kiss for multiple seconds.
‘I bet they didn’t tell you that was in the gift bag,’ he joked after releasing her and starting his speech, while Halle was seen looking shocked and wiping her mouth on the broadcast.
In 2009, Berry appeared to reference the kiss by smooching Jamie Foxx when he presented her with the Decade of Hotness award for Spike TV’s 2009 Guys Choice Awards.
