In a somber moment for the television world, “Days of Our Lives” mourns the loss of 28 beloved cast members, each of whom contributed to the rich tapestry of this iconic soap opera. From its inception in 1965, the show has captivated audiences with its unforgettable love stories and intricate dramas, but it is the faces of these talented actors that have left an indelible mark on fans’ hearts.

Among those remembered is Drake Hogestyn, known for his compelling portrayal of John Black, who passed away just shy of his 70th birthday in September 2024. His character’s journey through espionage and romance became a cornerstone of the series. Also honored is Jed Allen, the charismatic Don Craig, whose absence from the show remains a mystery to this day; he left us in March 2019 at the age of 84.

The legendary John Aniston, who graced the screen as Victor Kiriakis for over five decades, died in November 2022, leaving behind a legacy of intricate schemes and rivalries that defined the show’s landscape. McDonald Carey, who portrayed the heartwarming Dr. Tom Horton since 1965, passed away in 1994, serving as a moral compass for many characters over the years.

The tributes continue with actors like Joseph Mascolo, the infamous Stefano DiMera, who captivated viewers with his villainous charm until his passing in 2016, and Francis Reed, the beloved Alice Horton, who was a beloved matriarch until her death in 2010.

As fans and friends reflect on the contributions of these remarkable individuals, their memories live on through the stories that continue to unfold in Salem. The loss of these actors is a poignant reminder of the fragility of life and the enduring impact they’ve had on both the show and its devoted audience.
