Trump gives Israel “carte blanche” for Gaza atrocities: Gideon Levy

In a shocking revelation, Israeli columnist Gideon Levy has accused former President Donald Trump of granting Israel “carte blanche” to carry out potential atrocities in Gaza. As Israeli officials propose controversial plans to forcibly relocate Palestinians or confine them into a concentration zone, the implications are dire. Levy, speaking from Tel Aviv, expressed grave concerns that the current U.S. administration, particularly Trump, shows little regard for Palestinian lives or international law.

“The mindset in Israel is alarming,” Levy stated, highlighting a disturbing belief among many Israelis that all actions against Gazans are justified. This perspective, he argues, has been shaped by over 21 months of brutal conflict, with the majority of Israelis either indifferent or supportive of extreme measures.

As the situation escalates, Levy warns that Israel is already seen as a pariah state, with little concern from its citizens about potential repercussions on the global stage. “Many believe international law is an anti-Semitic tool, and they ignore its application to Israel,” he noted.

Despite rising casualties among Israeli soldiers and increasing pressure on Prime Minister Netanyahu to seek resolution, Levy fears that proposals for forced displacement could derail any ceasefire negotiations. “Hamas is fighting for its existence, and while a temporary ceasefire may be reached, it won’t address the underlying issues,” he cautioned.

With tensions boiling over and the humanitarian crisis deepening, the world watches anxiously as Israel grapples with its next moves. The potential for further violence looms large, and the consequences of these decisions could echo for generations. The urgency for a peaceful resolution has never been more critical.
