Tom Brady is one proud dad (and son).

On Sunday, June 15, the retired NFL star, 47, celebrated Father’s Day by reflecting on how his own dad has shaped the way he parents his three kids.

The athlete shares son John “Jack” Edward Thomas, 17, with his ex Bridget Moynahan, as well as Benjamin Rein, 15, and Vivian Lake, 12, with his ex-wife Gisele Bündchen.

“Happy Father’s Day to my dad who taught me everything about what it means to be a father. And to all the Dads out there that who are great role models to their kids,” Brady captioned a carousel of images on Instagram. “My dad has always been my biggest supporter, my best friend, and my number one teacher not just in sports but in life. The values he passed on to our family — hard work, integrity, compassion, and unconditional love, shaped me in every way.”

He continued, “Each day I try to live up to the example he set: to be present and to make sure my kids know how much I love and care about them. I’m grateful for every moment and it’s a pleasure watching these three beautiful angels grow up! ❤️❤️❤️”

Brady’s post started with a picture of his parents sitting on an outdoors lounge chair. The pair had their arms around each other as they posed for the snap. The post continued with images of Brady with his three kids, as well as a picture of the athlete with his parents.

One snap showed Brady with his arms around his two sons as they stood on a football field, while another was of the proud dad sitting on a chair with all three kids on his lap.

Brady’s latest post comes after he shared a sweet Father’s Day message on Instagram last year, posting a shot of him and his dad, as well as another photo of him and both of his parents, Galynn Patricia and Tom Brady Sr.

He wrote, “Happy Father’s Day to my HERO, and the best role model I could have ever asked for.”

“And THANK YOU, to these kids for giving me the gift of being a father, a joy that I could have never imagined until you came into my life. I hope that I can give you all that my dad gave me… unconditional love and support ❤️❤️❤️,” he added to his children, sharing pictures of them on a boat and posing on the beach.

Brady has spoken openly about parenthood through the years, previously sharing on an April 2024 episode of DeepCut with VicBlends that he was “winging it” when he first became a dad.

He said, “You get better as a parent, I think, because you know when you’re a young parent, you don’t really know what you’re doing. You’re winging it. You’re trying to wing it.”

The former New England Patriots quarterback shared, “So I think when you become a parent, you’re trying new things for the first time, you’re going through all these things for the first time so you don’t exactly know always the right thing to say. As you go, you get a little bit better at it, you get a little more understanding of it and you try to just continue to kind of refresh your skills as a parent.”

“‘Am I listening or am I talking? Am I mentoring, or am I disciplining? Am I holding them accountable or am I letting them get away with things?’ ” the dad of three explained at the time.

During an appearance at the Fortune Global Forum in New York City in November, Brady admitted that “being a parent is probably the hardest job all of us have,” PEOPLE previously reported.

“And we screw up a lot and I’ve screwed up a lot as a parent,” he said, adding, “I don’t want to seem like I’m some expert in parenting, because I’m certainly not that.”

Brady insisted that he tried to “be dependable and consistent for them” and supportive of what “they want to do in life,” while talking about his “three amazing kids.”
