General Hospital spoilers and updates for the week of Monday, September 22 through Friday, September 26 tease game changing events, shocking returns, and mystery mourners!

It’s a game changing week with the shocking return of Nathan West (Ryan Paevey) and a mystery mourner turns up to honor Monica Quartermaine (Leslie Charleson). (Make sure to check out our weekly GH spoilers, here!)

Lucy Coe Gets A Door Slammed In Her Face!

Obviously, Lucy Coe (Lynn Herring) hasn’t heard about Monica’s death, since she shows up at the Quartermaine mansion to talk to Tracy Quartermaine (Jane Elliot) who’s grieving.

Tracy will be looking at photo albums and remembering her former rival, who she seems to have made peace with in her later years. There will probably be many flashbacks of Monica and different relatives and friends shown this week.

Lucy shows up at the door and starts shouting at Tracy about needing to talk to her. Tracy’s response is to slam the door in Lucy’s face, and she looks blindsided!

Dante Falconeri, Anna Devane And Lucas Jones Puzzle Over Nathan West’s Survival

At GH, the accident victim found by Lulu Spencer (Alexa Havins Bruening) shocks several people who see him brought in to the emergency room by the paramedics.

Dante Falconeri (Dominic Zamprogna) looks confused and sad to see his former partner Nathan, whom he saw buried with full police honors.

As for Anna Devane, (Finola Hughes) she looks wary-she will say to keep the whole situation under wraps until they’re sure this is really Nathan; she’ll receive shocking intel.

Lucas Jones (Van Hansis) is also confused-he is well aware that Maxie Jones’ (Kirsten Storms) husband and James West’s (Gary James Fuller) father flatlined after being shot and was pronounced dead.

No doubt some DNA testing will be done, and Nathan’s grave opened-just to be on the safe side, it’s not the first time doppelgangers have come to Port Charles!

Monica Quartermaine’s Funeral Begins

A voiceover continues, saying this week isn’t just big, it’s game changing, as the scene now shifts to the church and Monica Quartermaine’s (Leslie Charleson) funeral ready to begin.

A grieving Jason Morgan (Steve Burton) dressed in a suit approaches the coffin of the woman he knew as his only mother, his birth mother having died when he was a baby.

A large heart shaped wreath adorned with pink and white flowers can be seen to the left, while a large portrait of Monica sits to the right, adorned with white flowers.

How can Jason, and the rest of Port Charles go on without the Quartermaine matriarch? Monica was not only a Quartermaine family institution, but an important fixture for the whole city of Port Charles!

Felicia Scorpio Is Shocked

Nathan has now been moved to what appears to be a regular hospital room, with his full oxygen mask replaced with just a cannula, the part that clips into the nostrils. Felicia Scorpio, (Kristina Wagner) Nathan’s mother-in-law and a patient advocate at GH, approaches the bed and then stops, as if in shock-Anna will brief her.

It looks like Elizabeth Baldwin (Rebecca Herbst) can be seen from the back, closer to Nathan’s IV bag, possibly doing some paperwork on the hospital room’s bedside table.

Felicia will be as shocked and confused as anyone else, she’ll fret over what she’ll tell James, and how she’ll tell Nathan should he wake up about Maxie.

The whole situation is incredible, in both a good way and a mystifying one-how did everyone see Nathan dead in his coffin and buried, and yet here he is alive?

Britt Westbourne Will Be Shaken, And Also Filled With Guilt

Next, Britt Westbourne (Kelly Thiebaud) is seen looking at a small box with vials of medicine lying on a bed with a note, “Don’t forget to take your medicine”.

Lucas prescribed some medicine, although she wasn’t sure how she was going to pay for it-but Britt looks awfully sad. Perhaps this medicine was found with Nathan, and he wrote the note?

Or, maybe Jason paid for it and left it on the bed, and she feels guilty about that? In the meanwhile, the voiceover continues, saying, “You won’t believe what’s coming!”

Tears Of Joy

Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) is seen crying tears of joy, apparently having been told her cousin who was raised as her little brother, “Jay” is alive!

She appears to be looking downwards, so she’s probably looking at him in the hospital bed. It seems a sad irony that as the Quartermaines mourn the loss of a family member, the Reeves, Westbourne, Obrecht family plus the Scorpios are celebrating a return from the dead of theirs! Now, everyone will wait for Nathan to wake up and find out if he can tell them what happened, and how he’s alive!

Shock And Surprise

The scene shifts to the church and Monica’s funeral, with Laura Collins (Genie Francis) and Jason sitting together. There appears to be a funeral crasher, but who might that be-both Laura and Jason look shocked! Might someone have shown up totally unexpected, and perhaps not allowed, invited, or welcome at Monica’s funeral?

There has been buzz that Drew Cain (Cameron Mathison) might show up there, possibly with his daughter Scout Cain (Cosette Abinante). But might it be someone else-Laura and Jason look like they are shocked because they recognize the person!

More Shock And Stunning News?

Next, Portia Robinson (Brook Kerr) seems to have a look of shock and despair on her face-but where is she; it doesn’t look like the church.

She seems stunned, and spoilers reveal she will seek out Isaiah Gannon (Sawandi Wilson). Perhaps the news has just reached her about the death of Monica, who was basically the head of General Hospital, although she’s been absent from her job for quite a while.

All the hospital staff will be shocked and saddened by the news that their leader of so many years has passed away.  Portia is dressed in dark clothing, although it’s not in black.

Mystery Mourner

A flashback of a happy Monica raising a glass and appearing to be toasting flashes across the screen. Next, the dark interior of the Quartermaine crypt is shown, with a wary Tracy entering to see who’s in there. “Who are you?” Tracy calls out to the mystery mourner.

Erika Slezak is shown, perhaps having put flowers at Lila Quartermaine’s (Anna Lee)  resting place; she looks like she’s been crying. She is said to be playing Monica’s long-lost sister, but then  why is she by Lila’s  resting place in the Quartermaine crypt?
