Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani provide a rare update on their three “kids.”
Gwen has three adolescent sons.
Both Zuma and his 18-year-old brother Kingston have inherited their parents’ passion for music—their father is Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale—but Blake has revealed that Zuma has developed a special affinity for country music.
Fan of country music
Blake remarked, “He’s leaning pretty much 150 percent into country music.” It has been rather amazing to watch him like both older and more recent country music.
Blake told People that he has never tried to “force” his music on the boys, adding: “I think just accidentally throughout his lifetime, when he rides in the truck with me somewhere, he can’t help but hear whatever station I have on.
Solid relationship
Blake praised Gwen and Gavin for showing the boys how to find their confidence on the stage, admitting he was never that calm when he first stood on the stage.
Bush vocalist Gavin has a friendly connection as a co-parent with Blake and his wife, Gwen, who he married from 2002 until 2016, and he is still close to all three of his sons.
They are also parents to Apollo, 11.
Emerging musicians
Both Kingston and Zuma have performed at Blake’s bar Ole Red in Tishomingo, Oklahoma. Blake announced his stepson’s comeback in April by encouraging his almost seven million followers to attend if they were around.
“Hey everyone, our boy Zuma will be performing this Friday at @olered Tishomingo restaurant at 6 p.m.” he said on his Instagram Stories. Come have a look at him!
The future of Kingston
With a passion for rock bands like the Smashing Pumpkins and the Deftones, Kingston seems to be closely following in his father’s footsteps.
But Blake is over the moon regardless of the genre that the boys are into, even going so far as to buy Kingston a Logic studio to help him learn the recording process, and reveal that he is leaning towards life as a songwriter.
“As opposed to really recording so much for himself, he’s begun to work with other people and he’s written some way legit, Justin Bieber-quality singles. I’m like, ‘Oh god, it’s really good. I can’t believe it.’ He has such a great ear for melody,” Blake told Us Weekly.
