Steph Curry Ties Kobe Bryant on Historic List

Superstar point guard Steph Curry led the Golden State Warriors to victory over the Sacramento Kings on Friday night, scoring 41 points in the process. With his 41 points, Curry matched Alex English, Dirk Nowitzki, and Kobe Bryant for sixth place all-time among players at least 35 years old in 40-point games.

Curry, who turned 35 in March of this year, is going to be seeing a lot of these lists include his name. This was the star of the Warriors’ second 40-point performance since turning 35, and he will probably have many more before he retires. Curry now shares a tie with Bryant, Nowitzki, and English, and is behind only Karl Malone, Michael Jordan, LeBron James, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, and Elgin Baylor on the list.

After turning 35, Jordan leads the way with 12 40-point games, followed by LeBron with 10. At the end of the season, Curry, who is in excellent form, should add a few more to his total. Abdul-Jabbar presently holds the third-highest number of these games, so Curry could easily move up to third place all-time.

Curry’s ability to stay dominant at this age is only one of several statistical indicators that highlight his dominance. For Curry, winning games is more important than any statistical lists, and the Warriors did just that in Sacramento on Friday night.
