Max Verstappen admits he would ‘like’ to match Lewis Hamilton’s seven F1 titles

Max Verstappen would be happy to win seven world titles in F1.

Max Verstappen is presently dominating Formula 1. The Dutch driver has outperformed the entire grid in the last couple of years. Subsequently, the 26-year-old has won three consecutive world championships. Now, Verstappen has talked about his will to potentially match Lewis Hamilton‘s seven F1 championships.

The three-time champion was asked if he would like to win seven titles. This would put Verstappen on the same number of championships as Hamilton and Michael Schumacher. The Dutch driver claimed that he would be glad to bag four more titles during his F1 career. However, Max Verstappen affirmed that he was satisfied with his success at the pinnacle of motorsport.

If I would like to win seven World Cups, yes, why not? Even if I don’t win seven, I know there are more things in life than Formula 1. I am very happy with what I have achieved.

Max Verstappen told TIME magazine

The Red Bull driver pointed out that there are several other things in life other than racing in F1. Subsequently, Verstappen talked about trying to maintain a balance between his time on and off the grid. As such, the Dutch driver made it clear that despite his love for the sport, eventually, he would hang up his racing gloves.

At some point, you will need to balance success and quality of life, but now, everything is fine. I love to drive, I love to win, but in the future, the time will come when I don’t like it that much.

Max Verstappen continues to set records in 2023

The three-time world champion is having a historic season. The Dutch driver has already broken several records over the course of the season. Verstappen’s recent victory at the Brazilian GP got another record to his name. The 26-year-old now has won the highest percentage of races in a single season.

However, the 26-year-old managed to keep his lead and take a comfortable win. Certainly, Verstappen would be satisfied with his race weekend at Sao Paulo.

The Dutch driver would now shift his focus to the inaugural Las Vegas GP. Max Verstappen will aim to stand on the top step of the podium at the iconic Las Vegas Strip. As the 26-year-old tries to bag the remaining two races on the calendar. Although, it remains to be seen how Verstappen will perform in the final two rounds of 2023.
