But by Thursday, Beyonce was back on stage as she attended the City of Hope Spirit of Life gala in Santa Monica, California to honor high-profile executive Jon Platt.

The 48-year-old looked dapper in his black tuxedo as he presented the Spirit of Life award to Platt.

He’s a publishing executive at Warner Chappell Music, known for his contributions to the the careers of Kanye West, Usher and Lil Wayne, to name a few.

‘I can’t think of anyone more deserving of this award than my brother, Jon Platt,’ the Rocnation businessman told an audience of more than 1,000 people.

‘He’s known as ‘Big Jon’ and he has a beautiful soul.’

The speech, according to Billboard, appeared to have left Platt so emotional, he began to shed tears while crediting the 99 Problems hitmaker for his lengthy accomplishments outside of music.

‘As an African-American, I want to say that we’re more than just athletes and music artists. … We’re CEOs,’ the music publishing executive continued.

Jeff, who Variety reports will step down from his role at Warner/Chappell in favor for ‘the top job at Sony/ATV’ later this year, also spoke very highly about Beyonce.

Platt, clearly in awe of the singer’s work ethic and talent, told the audience: ‘Most people lead with their ego, but you lead with your heart.’

‘You have touched so many lives, mine included. She shows all of us how to dream big.’

R&B singer Pharrell is said to have hosted the event while fellow celebrities including Kelly Rowland, Tiffany Haddish, Dr. Dre, Usher and producer Timbaland were also said to have been in attendance.

Beyonce’s performance helped contribute to the gala’s grossing amount of $6 million by the end of the night.

The funds will be used to carry out further research and treatment plans against cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
