Journalist Simon Phillips has claimed that Chelsea have now considered signing a Premier League striker other than Ivan Toney.
He told his substack that the Blues have Dominic Calvert-Lewin on their list of potential forwards to add to their ranks in January, or even at the end of the season.
Calvert-Lewin has spent a lot of time on the sidelines recently due to injury, however has begun to put together a run of games this season.
When he has been fit though, he has certainly enjoyed facing Chelsea. He has one of his best goal to game ratios against the Blues.
It has been claimed already that Mauricio Pochettino is personally looking to sign players with Premier League experience to bolster his side.
Now, Phillips has claimed that the England international is on the list.
Calvert-Lewin on Chelsea’s list
He said: “My top source also says that Toney’s wages wouldn’t be a massive issue and would not be expected to break any wage structures, but Osimhen’s would. His fee would also be large.
“I don’t believe any of that will be enough to stop Chelsea going for him though, should they decide to make him their main target like some are reporting they already have.
“Other striker options that have been looked at by Chelsea include Benjamin Sesko, Ollie Watkins, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Santiago Gimenez, and Victor Boniface amongst others.”
It does feel as if the Blues are prioritising a move for Victor Osimhen, however it is only likely to be possible at the end of the season.
This could see them instead look elsewhere, and Ivan Toney is expected by many to push his way out of Brentford when he is able to play again in January.
With him also wanted by Arsenal, the club could now look elsewhere in the Premier League for their future striker.
