User Inter Miami ‘planning to sign former Man Utd star David de Gea’ – with David Beckham ready to swoop in after the goalkeeper rejected a huge Saudi bid

Inter Miami is apparently interested in signing David de Gea, the former Man Utd goalkeeper. David Beckham is said to want to bring the player to Major League Soccer.

Since his deal at Old Trafford ended in the summer, De Gea hasn’t had a club. He also turned down a lucrative move to the Saudi league.

The Sun says that David Beckham, who owns a part of Miami, is now making his move.

The newspaper says that the Spanish goalie is “interested” in moving to Florida.

The MLS team has already made big moves to get Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba. If De Gea comes to Miami, it would be another big win for them.

To bring De Gea in, though, Miami might have to change up their team to follow MLS rules.

Messi, Busquets, and Leonardo Campagna are those three players who are designated as “designated players.” In Major League Soccer, a “Designated Player” is a person who is signed by the team but doesn’t count toward the salary cap. Alba, a former Spain teammate of De Gea’s, took a big pay cut to join Messi and Busquets in the US. He got a deal worth about $1.7 million a year as a TAM (Target Allocation Money) player.

If De Gea wanted to do the same thing, he could, but he apparently turned down a $500,000-a-week offer to play in the Saudi league, so it doesn’t look like he’ll.

Last year, Miami won the Leagues Cup and came in second place in the US Open Cup, but they didn’t make it to the MLS playoffs.

Phil Neville was fired as coach of Miami after a terrible first half of the season, and Tata Martino took over a few weeks before Messi’s move.

Even though Messi was the leader of the team, they didn’t make it to the playoffs.
