Zayn Malik left One Direction ages years ago. Have he and Harry Styles even spoken at all since then?

From 2010 to 2015, the One Direction fever was high. They first came to be after appearing individually on The X Factor and were then formed into one of the biggest boybands of all time, with hit music that is still popular today. However, when they split in 2015, fans were devastated and for many, it didn’t seem like life would ever be the same.

Two members of the band who have always had a questionable relationship with one another are Harry Styles and Zayn Malik. While many Directioners were living in a happy bubble of believing all was good with the boys, when Zayn left the group a year before they officially split, it was soon discovered that not all was as it seemed.

Why Did One Direction Split?

The first sign of not all being good with the group was when Zayn suddenly (and shockingly) quit the group when they were right in the middle of their world tour. He said it was for mental health reasons and that it wasn’t worth sticking in a toxic environment, which was one of the first signs that not all was well within the group.

A few months after Zayn left the band, the rest of the group decided that they would go on a ‘hiatus’. There was no clarity as to how long this ‘hiatus’ would last, with many Directioners believing they were just trying to soften the blow of the band officially breaking up.

Since the split, this has led to some pretty epic solo careers and new projects that the boys could take on. After all, being a member of One Direction involved living a very busy and hectic life, so leaving the band has given them all the time to pursue their own projects.

Is Zayn Malik Still Friends With Harry Styles?

In Directioner Land, all teenage girls wanted to believe was that the boys only ever got along and that they were the best of friends in real life as they appeared to be on stage. However, ever since the band split, and they’ve not had to spend any time together, it’s been made more than apparent that this was never the case.

As a result, a couple of years after leaving the band, Zayn revealed that one particular member of One Direction that he didn’t get on with was Harry Styles. This likely broke the hearts of many Directioners worldwide and potentially dampened their hopes of the band ever getting back together.

In one interview, Zayn revealed that not only were he and Harry no longer speaking, but that they actually never really spoke while they were both in the band together. This may or may not come as a surprise, especially given Zayn once said he wouldn’t listen to their music at a party, and Harry replied saying it was a shame he felt that way.

Why Did Harry Styles And Zayn Malik Not Get Along?

Despite it being more than clear that the two clearly don’t get along, at least since One Direction has split up anyway, what’s not really known is why they don’t get along.

However, fans seemed to notice that there is the possibility that Zayn is jealous of Harry. This first came about due to Zayn saying in an interview with SiriusXM that he was the biggest fan of Niall’s solo career and that he feels his music is much better than his own.

This came just a few days after Zayn went on a rant about that year’s Grammy Award nominations, where he didn’t receive a single nomination; whereas Harry received three nominations and won one of them.

Whether this is just jealousy as fans are suggesting, or whether there is something else that has gone on behind the scenes that hasn’t been made public, is unknown. However, it’s pretty safe to say that should they ever reconcile, it’s going to be a pretty big event in all Directioners’ lives.

Are Any Members Of One Direction Still Friends?

Given that it’s been made more than apparent that Zayn and Harry are no longer friends (if they ever even were in the first place), does this mean that the same applies to the other members? Or do some of them actually still genuinely like each other?

In March 2023, Liam Payne was seen attending the premiere of Louis Tomlinson’s documentary All Of Those Voices. This came just a few months after Liam was claiming to be the most successful member of the band and caused quite a big discussion online about whether this is true or not.

There was also that online interaction between Zayn and Liam on Instagram, where Liam commented on Zayn’s Instagram post and Zayn replied. This sent many Directioners into meltdown and likely caused false hopes among many for a reunion.

In terms of who else in the band is said to be in regular contact, Harry is said to still be in regular contact with Niall, who is also in contact with Liam and Louis, but not Zayn. Zayn is also someone that Louis is said to not be all that close with either.

Liam and Louis are also said to have not spoken to Harry much since the band split either. So going by the fact not many of them seem to talk, it can be assumed that any hopes for a reunion anytime soon are a bit far-fetched.
