3 Minor Details From Netflix That Made Emily Rudd’s One Piece Character Better Than Nami From Eiichiro Oda’s Manga Series

Emily Rudd’s Nami Was Better Than The Original Nami Because of These Three Minor Changes.

After the incredible success of Netflix’s One Piece Live-Action adaptation fans are eagerly waiting for the second season of the series. Fans are particularly excited to watch Emily Rudd’s performance in the series as her character portrayal of Nami was one of the best performances of the series. As the first season majorly focused on Nami’s back story during the Arlong Park arc, fans got to see Rudd’s epic performance as the Straw Hats Navigator.

Rudd’s portrayal of Nami was especially appreciated as it carried with it some major changes in the character that may have outshined the original Nami from Eiichiro Oda’s manga. Maybe because it felt more realistic than the anime but her acting skills and her changes in the minor details made a huge impact on her role.

Also, the creators of the show included some minor details that may have made Rudd look better as the character and helped her charm the audience in a big way. These changes were noticed by quite a few fans and were appreciated by them a lot.

1. Emily Rudd Did Actual Burglar Stuff

At the beginning of the One Piece series, Nami is shown as a burglar who was robbing people to pay off Arlong as a way to get her village free from his reign. She used to steal from ships and pirates and take it back to her village. However, she was never shown doing any burglar stuff in the original anime or manga series. This was not noticed by fans until they saw Emily Rudd doing it in the live-action adaptation.

In the Netflix series, Rudd was seen doing burglar things like breaking into a safe or trying to open a lock. Although it was a very small detail, fans were able to notice it and point it out as a good character portrayal that spoke about the talent of Rudd as Nami.

2. Emily Rudd’s Nami Showed A Lot More Emotions

Rudd’s portrayal of Nami was very good because she was able to show more emotions and react to the situations better than the actual Nami from the series. Maybe it was the difference between the live-action and the anime but it made a huge impact in the story and fans were able to feel the connection better.

Emily Rudd’s Most Emotional Scene

The biggest example of this was when Nami(Rudd) looked and reacted to the devastation that was caused by Buggy the Clown to Orange Town and how he captured the residents. Her emotions were well received by the fans and made the scene look more real in a way.

3. Nami’s Staff Was Different in One Piece Live-Action

One other big change that the creators made to Rudd’s Nami was the staff that she carried in the series. In the original series, it was just an ordinary staff that she used to attack Navy soldiers and was her only choice of weapon at the start of the series until Usopp did his magic on it and made it more accessible and useful for her that it became a part of her identity.

However, Rudd’s Nami already had a modification to her staff that was not seen in the manga or the anime series. Her staff could collapse into a small size which was easily accessible for her and made it look way cooler than the original Nami’s staff.
